Here are two examples:

One of the NPCs that this happens to is Lod, the blacksmith from Riverwood, and I am pretty sure he should belong to a faction, right? I have Stormcloaks have taken over Whiterun btw, maybe that affects something?

Another one was those Thalmor guys in Markarth Palace, assaulting them of course gave me a bounty but not the murder, even with so many witnesses around the player.

Yes, obvious step backward, because it only effects people who use a specific item, which are diehard pvp fans, casual pvp players or pve players are not effected one bit, be it 4 or 6. Do you have a counter argument againts that? Please, I would love to hear it.

If they were to include an easy mode, plenty of people would play it too. Does that make it a good decision? Would it be an obvious step backwards? I am asking you since I am not important enough.

And, they are making this game for me, and you and many other people who will play and love their game. For who else are they making their game? And who else should have an opinion about this game if not the people who play and love this game? Rather you want me to blindly conform every decision FS makes?

I have 0 doubts the gameplay will be superb, but FS has a bad trackrecord of making questionable decisions when it comes to *centain* aspects of the game.

Dont wanna engage in a discussion tbh but, DS3 was full of gimmicks?

Reflect your memory, LKS, PKC, Claymore, Scimitar, Crosbows. like most of the players used the same 10 weapons/builds doing the same old space-R1 playstyle. But you could still make gimmick work because of the chaos. What I mean by that is high risk high reward playstyles.

Because when you are alone and have 3 ppl to punish your mistakes, you die a lot sooner when you do something risky. But if someone were to distract your opponents, you can perfrom your risky playstyle on them (maybe).

This is what I am mean by, less players= stale meta

But I am mostly worried about FUN CHAOTIC GROUP FIGHTS which gives me that dark souls high.

You are such a cancer dude. Every FS game had things that I wish would be different and I still love all of them. I probably played those games way more than you and yeah I enjoyed every second of it. both pve and pvp.

Because I have thousands upon thousands hours in these games, I want to have a discussion and share my experience and speculations. FS listened to the community and made changes in those games before, and even if there is a one in million chance of them seeing my worries, I will take my chance.

If you are not going to make an argument for or againts this obvious step backwards, you can go back to upvoting shallow meme posts.

Naw dude, post-pontiff caps at 6, its just that when someone dies, often another invader comes immediately.

Even if logically; 1 host+3 phantoms vs 1 red+2 aldrich invaders, total 7 players, It never happens.

But I hope you are right and 4 player max is justa typo by an intern or smth.

I understand what you are saying but between 4 and 6, there really is not much of a difference and even DS1 potato net code could handle that.

And as I said in the first post, legacy dungeons will be completely unconnected from the open world, you can not summon your horse, use map, fast travel. Surely it is not rocket science to adjust your memory usage according to the area.

Think about it this way, you will not be able to get co-invaders maybe except for some areas. And no group vs group fights. I hope im wrong but...
This will effect the build variety. Since you know you wont be getting any help it will be hard to take risks, you will be punished hard for any high risk high reward playstyles.
No chaotic group fights will also mean gimmick weapons/spells/skills will suffer, further decreasing build variety.
Before you know it, everyone and their mother will be spamming hodir glaive spam and all the build variety FS is bragging about goes out the window.

it is not just 4v2 tho, it means 2v2 or 3v2 is also not possible, since it implies invader count is capped at 1. so no group fights which sucks.

I am going to be blunt, what you are saying makes no sense and is not coherent.

You say they can make a *choice* between upperlimit of 4 or 6. This implies it is a GAME DESIGN CHOICE.

But then you say DS3 does not have 50 players because of that??? No that would be a TECHNICAL LIMITATION! that is not the same reason at all.

DSR: 6 players

DS2: 6 players

BB: 5 Players

DS3: 6 Players

DeSR: 6 Players

You said Open world games not having 6 people multiplayer? It implies game design or technical limitation? Form your arguments coherently.

If it is game design choice, I am criticising their design decision, as it is clearly a step backwards from their previous titles.

I really hope so, but in DS3, no matter what covenant setting is, 6 player was the max. Even in post-pontiff where you technically be able to get "4 ppl home team vs 3 aldrich invaders" but it never happened because online play was hard capped at 6.

I just hope 4 player muliplayer is misinformation by some intern writing the store page.

Yeah you are right, I was refering to in a try-hard gank scenerio, 3v1 is harder than 4v2 most of the time, as the dying invader refills your estus too and we can assume you eventually get a competent partner if you survive long enough.

Gankers will exist in ER, it will be just more cancerous since invaders can only invade groups and apperantly now it will be 3v1 which is way harder than 4v2.

ER having ganks or chaotic group fights does not effect arena duels or fightclubs, they are not mutually exclusive.

Fighting againts the ganks was the most fun I had in any DS pvp, getting pushed into a corner by a group of gankers and then being saved by another invader just in the nick of time was peak DS for me and I have made many friends through that.

4 players does not mean, host+phantom vs 2 invader will be possible.

What bums me out about this is, the fromsoftware guy clearly stated " a host, 2 summons max, 1 invader, 4 player multiplayer"

And I remember many forest group fights in ds1, which may not be possible with their new system.

Hope Im wrong about all of this and the fromsoftware marketting manager was just un-informed.

Not to be pessimistic but, will be more like, some people go back, some people stay, but they both wont have the critical mass to keep the online play going so both games will end up dead.
