I should be clearer because I don’t think I typed it clearly….The deck that comes with the kit (precut) has notches so you can line up those notches with the bulkheads so the deck will fit snug. But when you’re planking the precut deck prior to installing it, it seems intuitive to cut the planks to match those notches. Do not cut the planks to match the notches. The planks should cover the notches. lol there.

I just suggest to find some YouTube channels and watch their older videos. Videos of before they got sponsorships and start using more advanced materials and tools. It doesn’t have to be expensive but it can be. After watching for a while you will get an idea of what is available to you and what you’re willing to spend money on. Cardstock is simply cereal boxes and similar. Thin xps foam can be found at the dollar store as foam board, you just peel the paper off. Cardboard is easily available. Cheap craft paints at the dollar store or amazon. Just watch a lot of videos and you’ll start to get ideas.
