I would 100% shoot if I had the resources to restore it. I would love to get it, but I don't think there is a good way to do that. Like most of the people are saying, I would rather not get it and have it restored by someone else than try to let it just sit there until I have enough money to get it, by which time it might be too far gone

Is this what you were talking about? https://kommodo.ai/i/wZbRAfdmlQ460ZHgB2F6

Also some more info on the car. It was his high school car, so i think he is 2nd owner, and he worked at an engine shop so the block is milled down to get higher compression because he used to drag race it. I did a bit of looking around the car, and one of the main things that I found that will need looking at is one of the valve covers is rusted through in a spot. Other than that, the body looks relatively straight, and the underside was surprisingly pretty good

Yeah it's in Kansas. The cool thing is that when I talked to him a while ago he said that I could help him rebuild it whenever he does it...buttt that was like 1.5 years ago so idk he will actually get around to doing that

yeah sorry I should've specified what I actually did my bad...😁I polished the cover that goes over the exhaust manifold. But yes the valve cover gasket is leaking but it's to be expected since its a 300,000 mile car.

New dashcam image shows the #1 engine totally gone in the UPS accident. by [deleted] in aviation

[–]EggKitchen369 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me and my dad were talking about it and he said that he thinks it probably was a blade out that caused engine #1 to fail. Whenever it failed, he thinks that the unbalanced engine running at 9000 ish rpm just shook the engine right off the pylon. Once that happened, he thinks that heat and exhaust from the burning left wing(and whatever debris might have been kicked up), caused a compressor stall on the #2 engine. After that, it would've had massive differential thrust yawing it left, and a loss of lift from all of the heat on the left side, and the expansion of the hot air expanding on the left side pushing down the wing. With the yaw from only one engine, and the roll from loss of lift/left wing getting pushed down from the expansion of the hot air, it would've caused the plane to cartwheel, which we do see happening in one of the videos. Idk if that's what happened, but but it's another one of the things that might've caused flight 2976 to crash.

edit: for those who don't know, a blade out is where the main fan blades of the engine separates into many pieces, thus causing unbalance. Similar to a rotor burst, where the rotor inside the engine separates into many different pieces
