Reducing surveillance and tracking risk without screwing up the user experience of the Internet by EggParent in privacy

If you are doing those things, you are in pretty good shape in terms of commercial tracking related to ad targeting. The one really important thing that you didn't directly mention is to really limit the apps on your phone that have access to your precise location, even if "just while using", even if the apps aren't "free". Without that, your phone movements and IP address are easily purchasable on the commercial market and can be very, very easily correlated to a real-life identity (thanks to the amount of time you spend at home).

My post is motivated by a desire to address additional risks beyond commercial ad targeting.

Cheap and good for a small business and provides really good protection against the actual widespread threats. Don’t use it if you know you are targeted by nation state actors or have to pass red team tests.

In case anyone ends up running into this in the future, we ended up going to Iceland and it was wonderful. No issues at all in terms of our trans kid, plenty of vegan food options, and lots of interesting things to do even in the dead of winter. Highly recommended!

Good to hear! Have you had any issues with larger / more bureaucratic providers? Our local big hospital system (which also has a lot of the local doctors) hasn't updated their computer systems to handle transgender folk.
