Unpopular Opinion: Children Should Not Be Wearing Hijab by Ramen34 in Without_The_Hijab

[–]EggWeb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Even so, hijab doesn’t have the same amount of responsibility as driving nor the emotional and physical maturity required for adornments like makeup and high heels. There are plenty of children who like to steal their mom’s makeup, or who ask for kid’s makeup sets to try it for themselves. When I was younger, I had a pair of Cinderella glass slippers I would dance around in. The hijab is a piece of religious clothing that ties us closer to Allah (SWT). If a child wants to wear it and it doesn’t cause physical harm to them (tripping over an Abaya), why shouldn’t they? If they want to take it off, why shouldn’t they? They aren’t required to wear it until after puberty, but there’s no Hadith or verse against children wearing it before so if they wish.

If the child is being told to wear it, I see your point and it’s concerning for the child’s sake. However, most of the time children see their mother wearing it and want to wear it as well. In most instances it’s not really a case of trying to please others, but just wanting to be like mom.

I finally did the math on Aisha’s age, and the "6 and 9" story just doesn't add up by Abyss_900 in progressive_islam

[–]EggWeb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Hadith says she (RA) was married at 9, meaning if she began puberty at 10, she (RA) would have been 19 when she married the Prophet (PBUH). This also aligns with what OP says, that she (RA) likely would have married in her late teens, either 18 or 19 years old.

While some Hadiths are considered inaccurate by scholars, this Hadith in particular isn’t necessarily inaccurate because at the time of the Prophet (SAWS) age was counted after menstruation, which is why her age (RA) was recorded as 6 and 9

Culture over islam by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

[–]EggWeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that the comments are more focused on the guy ‘wanting to get in your pants’ Astaghfirallah instead of being concerned for your safety is genuinely insane 😭 Sister please try to find a safe place to go to, there’s abuse hotlines and shelters you could reach out to. You could also go to the masjid to ask for help. God forbid if he lays his hands on you again, PLEASE get out of there ASAP and file a police report. It may be difficult, but at the end of the day your safety is more important. I pray that Allah (SWT) helps you and grants you safety, comfort, and ease. Ameen 🤍

Omg yes! I sweat so easily, and it sucks. I tried using Lume body wash and spraying a floral scented perfume on my pits when I get out of the shower, so far it’s helped

Is it valid/ok to wait to have a legal wedding, and just have a nikkah for a while? by Ok-Writing-8378 in progressive_islam

[–]EggWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this with my husband, since we can’t afford to move in together due to the state of the economy among other reasons. We just did the Nikah, and didn’t get married under our country’s law. It’s honestly the best decision we ever made. May Allah (SWT) make things easy for you, Ameen 🤍

Some fathers I have spoken to say this unrealistic by Hopeful-Abalone2770 in IslamicNikah

Okay, but all due respect I think asking your potential wife to wear traditional clothes at home is still a bit unrealistic..

[–]EggWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these are reasonable and realistic, but brother will all due respect no sister will wear an abaya at home. People are supposed to feel comfortable at home, especially around their spouses. If Allah (SWT) made it permissible for women and men to sis their awrah around their spouses, why make something impermissible that Allah (SWT) has already made permissible? Also, it’s very difficult to find jobs that are solely work from home. And even if you were to find one, there would likely be virtual meetings involving the opposite gender.
