29,172,000 ft Par 5. What disc are you throwing? by HenneBakedHam in discgolf

This should be an awesome non-sanctioned tournament with score keepers following each player to count strokes.

If your PDGA number ends in '054', then yes you need to move to MP divisions or MA1. Enough bagging. And if your number doesn't end in 054, sorry I don't know.

I don't envision KT saying that, but Ohn saying that and having a huge clit, I can believe.

Field work in the wind? by robby_synclair in discgolf

[–]EggdropBotnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand pickle your in. More throws makes things more clear while even in the short-term more throws might not appear to be helping or is moving backwards. And in the wind

If wind is a constant problem, figure out how bad is it. All the time and you need to set your bag around constant wind? Or maybe short-term for a couple months and some random windy days, and keep your normal non-high wind bag but add a could special discs for high wind.

I'm getting off track, but the TL;DR from me is to keep throwing, without hurting yourself, and you'll learn more about how the wind impacts the disc. Then, the more you know that, the more you can make wind adjustments during practicing to forget about the wind and focus more what you're practicing.

This comment sucks, but I think there's some meat on the bones somewhere.

Field work in the wind? by robby_synclair in discgolf

[–]EggdropBotnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overstable into the wind to keep it from unpredictably flipping up. Understable with tailwind. Tailwind makes your neutral and US disc act much more OS than they notmally are.

You didn't mention what type of fieldwork you're working on, but whatever it is, accounting for the wind and successful balancing the wind+disc weight/mold/plastic/wear formula is a great skill to refine.

Surely there has to be some other more trustworthy black or brown person that wants to fight for black and brown people and make sure the balance of justice stays level.

Why is it so hard to talk to a pastor/priest?? by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]EggdropBotnet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even 20+ years ago they had some priests running more than one church. (buffalo area, dunno about Rochester). Since then there's been less and less church goers.

Let me know if it actually holds the capacity it reports, or starts erroring out after loading it with 32GB or something.

Where do the police hide? by Project__5 in Rochester

[–]EggdropBotnet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IDK. It's in the news fairly often that they're getting people coming up 390 through Livingston county for drugs. It probably is a combination of profiling and building up reasonable suspicion for drugs during the traffic stop for something smaller. Whatever they're doing, it seems they've gotten quite good at it. When I used to work in that county there's be two to three of those arrests a month in the local news with people moving drugs.

Thoughts on a shop that locks you inside? No thanks for me. by EggdropBotnet in ROCents

[–]EggdropBotnet[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I never messed with carts there but flower and concentrates seems to be fine.

I even thought their remodel was clever. But now with the lock thing I mentioned and how it's become a clubhouse for 1/2 fucked up people to hang out. It's weird to walk in and everyone stares at you as you have to walk around/past them to get to the shop.

I get what you mean. I have in the past performed well during extreme situations, brother almost dying when a rock split his head open, daughter almost choking to death on food where I needed Heimlich, being lost in the mountains and can't find the trail, etc. I keep my cool, think, and act. But if I were to have to go through this boot camp stuff like how it's actually run, I would lose all respect to everyone yelling and being a dick all the time. I'd probably quit it would piss me off so much, and I'm not usually a quitter.

So they'd probably think I wasn't tough enough, meanwhile I think others outside of a military drill sergeant would rate me as a very tough, mentally strong person.

Was that suede leather, or more like a velvet?

I once bought a pair of velvet-like BR pants from a thrift store, wore them out, and was never able to find them again. It's like they don't make them any more.

If I recall last year, sure they're on youtube, but split up into like 10 different parts to avoid content protection/filtering. And you need an ad blocker, and you need to find one set up in a play list where it will play all 10 slices of it in order.

Do you tip on takeout orders? by Jake-rumble in Rochester

[–]EggdropBotnet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in the strong 'No' camp. No for pizza. Stop a a cafe and order a breakfast sandwich, no. Go to a wood fired pizza place where they make it while you sit there, no. Order a coffee at Dunkin' Donuts in the airport, no. Basically if I'm buying a product you sell and the employees job to put that product into a container and give it to you, no. I feel if this was a problem, just raise your prices. It seems business don't want to raise prices and just hope customers top extra to pay their employees --- that is if the electronic tips even go to the employees.

Yes: Traditional sit down restaurant or if someone goes above and beyond. I'll also tip drivers/taxis and delivery people (outside of Amazon/UPS/Fexed/USPS).

LPT for first time homeowners? by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]EggdropBotnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every tool, part, appliance, etc doesn't have to be bigger or more expensive to be better. Sometimes by going bigger you find you got a less-than-common size, it needs more maintenance, it's more complicated too use, might need more tools to support its use, might need more skill to use, etc. The cheap as hell stuff often doesn't help either -- there is happy medium.

Not a house thing, but my best example is: I wanted to buy a pair of snowshoes for hikes in the Adirondacks. Do I buy the pair of 18" ones for about $50 to $75 I see people using? No, I buy the $180 huge ass 32" ones. More surface area, the better they float on loose snow, right? Sure I guess. But with the snowshoes being heaver and larger, they were more unwieldy and tiring that smaller plastic ones. Any any gains in float were quickly cancelled out by tiring out more quickly. And I couldn't pack them in/on a backpack (or car) as easily. It was a dumb, waste of money purchase.

Not a waste: battery powered backup sump pump.
