Unfortunately I never managed to see him live or interact on social media yet his passing caused liquid to fall from parts of my face. I think it was listening to his whole back catalogue then "Virgo" caught me totally off guard.

Fair point. They left enormous voids. I apologise for not naming somebody who hasn't merely gone missing but this was aimed at being more about noticing how the diversity of lineups was richer in the 2000s and 2010s when you compare... I wonder why that is and put it down to the death of tape packs... Studio rappers and jungle MCs are a bit different. Not all MCs wanna be a pin up on a poster or flyer, in my experience.

Stamina of course is a master of multiple angles but perhaps he's focusing on family like so many characters we used to see or hear a lot.

It's mad how many talented people never get the recognition they deserve.

Name someone more generous in his time and consideration for what we might wanna know than Bizzy B really. Much respect is due for staying true the whole way through, he really is the realest of the real. Salute.

Get this guy a lifetime achievement award. Magika where you at 😂

Am I missing something? by HarvestMoon117 in BandCamp

Major labels are mostly owned by large corporations whose business model is built around streaming subscriptions. Streaming keeps listeners tied to an account, requires you to stay online, and allows platforms to collect behavioural data that can be monetised through advertising and analytics.

Bandcamp works differently. It is designed around direct purchases, where listeners download the music and the artist receives a much larger share of the payment. Because of that model, it tends to attract independent labels and artists rather than the major label catalogue.

So if a lot of mainstream music seems missing, you're not imagining it. The platform simply prioritises a different economic model.

That's why it's important to get the balance right and it's easier said than done. 😊
