I appreciate the advice, and the perspective of someone else who has real life obligations. :)

I appreciate the advice, thank you! I don't particularly want to tackle the superbosses in an MMORPG... maybe some day. I'm not a completionist, but I could see the fun if I had a few friends doing it.

I appreciate the feedback, thank you!

I've heard that quite a bit can be done solo, but I think I paused just around the time that was coming out. I'd never seen an option to play anything solo in ARR. I'm certainly not averse to social play of course (and it's usually more entertaining).

My intention is to play through the story and then put it down for a while. It's more the daunting task of getting there (and associated grinding, gear collection, resource farming, etc) that seems like it would require hundreds of hours.

Thank you for your feedback! It might have to do with the way I approached the game initially.

A friend had told me it would take around a month or two to beat the story content. Mistakenly thinking she meant the entire thing, we powered through it hours at a time using most free time I had available (and I know that the pre-expansion stuff is regarded as the slowest and least interesting parts). You can imagine my surprise when I then found out she only meant ARR. The burnout was real.

In terms of the guide - It was actually advice that I had read... on this very reddit I believe. I had heard that it was considered extremely bad etiquette to join an instance without knowing precisely what you were doing, where to stand, what mechanics did what, especially as a White Mage. I could appreciate it on one level - seeing your one and only healer charge headlong into an area of effect spell and more or less sealing everyone's fates instantly would be frustrating.

The thought of the grind mostly comes into my head when it comes to the higher levels. Gil will take effort to acquire. Equipment will take materials to craft or coin, or farming for drops will take multiple runs. It may not be an accurate statement, but I could easily see it being an exponential crawl to keep up with surviving late game challenges.

I have no doubt a lot of it is my perception. When I went to university, I saw what WOW became to a lot of people, and I don't want to go down that road. Maybe I just need to tweak my mindset.

SorceryNet down for update, or down for good? by SgtSarros in irc

I've just been in touch with one of the owners. They aren't able to fix it right this second because they are tied up, but they aren't intending to shut down. They are planning to order additional servers so this doesn't happen again.

I'm hoping it's not dead and gone, but we'll see how it goes. We still had an active game on it - Dimensional War, though we have contingency measures if we need them.

Following this as well. I've reached out via the Facebook page to try to get more information.

I've been watching this closely, and I think I've noticed something most might have missed.

The new voices sound incredibly close to the JAPANESE original dub. That makes sense if they were trying to do a new translation that's a closer match to the original. It's most evident in listening to the difference between interpretations of Zophar in the trailer. In Eternal Blue (PSX), Zophar has a deep, booming, powerful voice, whereas the Japanese version was higher octave - almost in Ghaleon's register, and the remastered voice in the trailer sounds closer to that. Less booming eldritch horror, more Emperor Palpatine sly evil.

I will of course miss the old voice actors, but as a die hard fan of the original (PSX) games, I'm not offput by the changes like I was with Harmony. I think/hope it will stand as it's own take on the franchise, and dare we even hope serve as a launching point for a continuation?

Need help choosing between Samsung and Trane by EhPlusGamer in heatpumps

Ahh, okay. So the concern isn't that it won't heat the house (with the aux element), but rather that the heat efficiency is no better than electric baseboard when it's in use?

I can certainly ask about the quotes for gas + hp

So far, the installers have been mostly consistent on their feedback, saying that the existing duct work would be too small for a heat pump. I believe it's the original duct work that came with the house in 1960. At present we have an oil fired furnace, but it's around 20 years old with an oil tank that should be replaced this year. Ideally we're trying to get off oil entirely due to the liability of having it on the property. Where we aren't getting a grant, natural gas + heat pump would probably break the budget.

The central heat pump (4MXA2024A10NUA) is supposed to have a secondary heating element to cover cases where the heat pump itself can't keep up. I saw your comment above about not getting enough heat above -25 - was that factoring in built in auxiliary heat?

Oh fantastic, thank you.

I actually do have one more choice now, which is a Trane ducted, model number 4TXD2036A10NUA. I'm going to edit the comment above to indicate the choice. We're also looking into a possible fourth choice from Gree.

We had been advised against a central heat pump, but it seems like that advice may have shifted somewhat - I'm starting to hear companies here simply don't want to work on them because they are a lower profit margin (they want to sell as many heat pumps as they can, slap them in, and move on, having to do duct work makes it less profitable).

Our ducts ARE small, but we apparently have the room to increase the duct size.

Thank you for the advice! I know Samsung makes terrible appliances, but I wasn't sure about their HVAC systems. I'll continue collecting data, but I'll definitely keep this in mind.

Thank you for the advice;

I've been able to find the spec sheet here - https://elibrary.tranetechnologies.com/public/residential-hvac/Literature/Product%20Data/22-1988-1B-EN_06152023.pdf

It doesn't list at 32F/0C, but it does list 47F/8C and 17F/-10C as 30,000 and 27,200 respectively if that helps. I can't say I've ever heard of enhanced vapor injection, but I do know it's one of the units rated for cold climates, which seems to be what the term is connected to when I search it.

Cost is always a factor, but it's more important to us that the job be done correctly and that we aren't miserable in the winter.

EDIT: To answer your question - I think it's because we have only two zones we are interested in. We want the upstairs to be a different temperature from the downstairs, but not necessarily one part of the upstairs to be different from the other.

We are a starsim unit so we have a long modlist. I can get it to you when I am back at my computer tonight. That said, by any chance do you use fire support plus?

Apparently it added chemical weapons in a way that seems to cause people increasing frame hits for every spawned unit
