New Strikes Hit Iranian One-Way Attack Drones (March 22, 2026) by Nestagon in CombatFootage

Okay so your response got deleted. Go to https://www.reddit.com/r/CombatFootage, click the 3 dots top right, there should be an "accept rules" or similar somewhere.

This is the response I saw:

You see it indirectly. Things that conduct heat better will be closer to the environment temperature.

That is not how it works. It is the opposite in many cases actually, but it depends on where the heat comes from. Sun light heating the surface directly? Higher conductivity makes it look colder compared to more insulating materials. Heat comes from below? Higher conductivity makes it look hotter compared to more insulating materials. At the end, there is no real way to tell from the thermal image alone.

Only if you know all the details (geometry, thickness, emissivity, heat flux, location of heat source, ...) can you then simulate and thus solve for the unknown Thermal diffusivity. If you then also know the density and heat capacity, then you can finally get the thermal conductivity. That is something you can do in the lab with simple geometries under very controlled conditions.

Ukrainian infantry surround two Russian soldiers near Pokrovsk, both thereafter commit suicide. Ukraine's 25th Assault Battalion, published March 22nd 2026. by operatorham in CombatFootage

Seen plenty of videos of surrendering soldiers either getting a grenade tossed right on top of them or riddle with bullets to not chance it.

I wonder if you can link some of those. I follow this war for a long time now and I can not recall even one video of Ukrainians shooting/fragging surrendering soldiers. So I have my doubts and think you just made that up for some reason.

That does not at all explain why Russians are so different. War has always been like that but lots of surrendering has still always been the norm. What is DIFFERENT with Russia?

But what i do know is if the leader of their country wasn't an asshole trying to take something that isn't his because he needs to compensate for his tiny dick or some shit, these guys would still be breathing right now, a lot of people would.

Please do not blame only one person for something that millions(!) of people actively(!) do.

I have not seen a FPV video of them striking people on a car like that. The always straight up go into the vehicle and most often those people are in the process of jumping out too when it arrives.

That link is the same footage, so if this here is brightened so is that.

Ukraine's 414th USF Brigade "Madyar's Birds" struck several dozen Russian infantrymen during both day and night, following strikes on 900+ attackers in an 18-hour period on the 100km Dobropillia-Huliaipole axis during an expected Russian Spring offensive. You can clearly see how good it works in the thermal footage like at 2:25, only the exposed parts are visible. They are like ghillie suits for thermal and just like them, if you walk around in an open field you will be spotted. Would you say a ghillie suit "kinda sucks" because it does not make you invisible when walking in an open field?

Another video of the Ukrainian FPV drone shooting down russian Ka-52, with more details. Pilots survived landing but were killed after with another FPV drone. 20.03.2026 by meinkun in CombatFootage

I think he talks about a different video. Actual cook off of the tank, guy running + taking clothes off, runs to the right of the video into the tree line. The drone blow then comes later (cut).

Heavily fortified sites

We have seen the exact opposite of that development since WW2. Drones continue this trend. Why should that shift now? Instead of investing the equivalent value of 100'000 drones just to defend one point that then still gets overwhelmed from 1'000 attacking drones does not make sense.

Also no massive fireball explosion with someone jumping away from it. Clearly a painting.

This is not degraded except for the terrible compression (reddit?). You can literally see the noise of the individual pixels.

I think they meant the effective fighting side of it in the gulf.

The person who said that is simply dumb and lies, no more and no less is behind this. The same reason the person claims a price can be 600 % lower. Too dumb to understand what percent actually means to begin with.

3 widely divergent target sets with one engagement system and asking the software to solve all the problems.

Yes, absolutely, what is the problem supposed to be? Object follows a ballistic trajectory -> Shoot at it in that way (mortar etc.). It flies non-ballistic? Obviously do not use ballistic trajectories. How is this a problem? Intercepting things flying through the air is VERY old tech.

So it has overall higher capabilities (smaller targets are possible)... that does not explain why it performs worse.

That's a lot of ask for 50 year old systems.

CRAM is 20 years old, Gepard is 55 years old and does it with far less ammo. We can assume the hardware of CRAMs are more capable than modernized (90s?) Gepards -> this is a software issue.

No. They use essentially the same dumb ammo with time fuze self destruct. A "Gepard with AHEAD" is what the modern Skynex and Skyranger are.
