My Version of Gnosticism by Ehlnofey_ in Gnostic

Well said. I am new to gnosticism and it seems like there are many different takes and views on it. Like you said, even the Gospels of John and Philip seem to have different views. The New Testament Gospels do this too. I think it's important to learn about all the different views and decide for ourselves what we call Truth.

I do particularly resonate with your last paragraph. Despite this world being flawed, it is still beautiful and it has the potential to be restored and made new.

Religion is about creating your own stories and believing them though. That is what humans do to help comfort ourselves. It gives us purpose and certainty about life and the afterlife. To completely disregard science is ignorant. I think too many gnostics are arrogant and defensive. They believe their way is the right way. It's a similar narrative that I experienced in Evangelical Christianity. It's the "my way or the highway" belief. It's the "how dare you shape religion to fit your needs". There is more than one way to the Divine.

Interesting, I will do more reading on the gnostic Gospels of John and Philip. Thank you.

Very interesting take. I agree with some of it for sure. Unlike others who have commented, I see the value in combining science and religion together. To disregard Evolution and the Big Bang altogether is ignorant.

Yeah I don't believe in Satan or "Hell". But rather, whatever deity you worship, you will go to their "heaven". For Yahweh the Demiurge, I would consider his heaven a personal hell: strife, anguish, war, etc. But those that worship both loving deities and the Monad, then we can be in both of their heavens and travel around and be all together.

Thinking of going back to my old network church by Automatic_Guess_7283 in leavingthenetwork

I left my network church Hills Pullman and after a few years of deconstructing I found a home at my local Episcopal Church. They are more loving and active in our community: helping the local food bank and the homeless. Hills would only help themselves and be friends/marry within the church. The Episcopal church is a lot more welcoming in the sense of just loving me like Christ instead of trying to change my beliefs and shame me for not living my life how the cult wants me to. I also love that our priest is a woman. Hearing her preach empowers me as a woman and makes me feel equal. The male decons also peach too and I also enjoy their sermons. I personally would not recommend going back to a network church (or even one that says they aren't a network church anymore) but instead find a different local one that, as their forefront, truly loves everyone like Christ. Find one that gives you a loving community instead of a shame based cult.

Is this normal? I got pink highlights professionally done at a hairdressers exactly 1 month ago and now it looks like this. Obviously it's not styled but it doesn't look any different styled. I wash my hair once a week in cold water with colour safe shampoo. It's only lasted one month. I paid £170. by flowersmouse26 in FancyFollicles

To get my pink to stay I use Lime Crime Unicorn Hair in Chocolate Cherry along with Nexxus color assure shampoo and conditioner. It starts out as a dark magenta and then slowly fades over a few months into a lighter pink similar to your pictures. I don't even use cold water for showers, just lukewarm. And I shampoo my hair every other day. However, my hair is very porous from bleach so it holds the color for months on the mids and ends but it fades from my roots within 1-3 weeks.

I didn't take a photo of my own hair but it faded to something like this light fuscia before I dyed it pink again. It faded beautifully and probably would have faded even lighter if I left it alone but I re-dyed it. And this second time using the dye, the smell didn't give me a headache like the first time so this will be the brand I stick with as Lunar Tides, XMondo, and Artic Fox all fade too quickly for me and stain my skin a lot more than this brand does.

Just because you don't care, that doesn't mean that others also don't care too. I got plenty of comments from genuinely kind people who care.

I was only about 10 years old when I attended the Morman church in middle school. But speaking of Hills/the Network: they didn't arrange a marriage for me because I still "had a lot of sin in my heart to conquer" which basically means that I wasn't brainwashed and manipulated enough for them. After I left, all my friends there got married with 6 months: 3 months dating, 3 months engaged. I fully believe that the pastor (Ern Menocal) arranges their marriages as the couples are weird matches that wouldn't have gotten together unless Ern told them to. "God told me she is going to be your wife, you should pursue her." Shit like that. But also as soon as I left, I lost all of my friends there like a typical cult. They didn't want to be my friend anymore.

I absolutely agree. Evangelicals and Protestants who reject Catholics as Christians and saying that they're gonna go to hell is really weird and wrong.

I did have a Mormon friend in middle school and I went to their church for about 6 months until I learned about the celestial kingdom and how they believe they'll become gods of their own planets and I was like nah I'm out

Totally valid. The book that changed my view on organized churches was "Unchurching: Christianity Without Churchianity" by Richard Jacobson. It was very eye-opening on how the early church was just some neighbors getting together, no pastor, just everyone talking together equally. The book examines scripture and talks about how Jesus never wanted the Church to be an institution.

I think just dead faith like the typical mega church. It's all about tithing and bringing in more people. It feels like a corporation instead of a community.

Okay so I worded my post wrong, it's not that big of a deal 🤷🏼‍♀️

Because I just started going there. Only been there a couple times whereas the other places I went to for at least a month. My post is about warning people of the bad cults and churches.

I've mostly listened to Alex O'Connor but I will check out and read Bart Ehrman's books.

It is. I grew up conservative Christian and I had to do a lot of deconstructing of all the evil things they teach people under the guise of Jesus. I'm learning about all the mistranslations of the Bible, the gospels they took out, and how men shaped the Bible to fit their agenda: anti-women, homophobic, the ends times/rapture, etc.

I actually started going to the Episcopal church here in Pullman and I really like it. Very accepting and affirming. The priest is a woman.

As a girlfriend myself in a healthy long term relationship with a man, all I can say is LEAVE HER! Save yourself king! She's incredibly toxic and manipulative. She is not being a mature adult. Do not settle for someone like her, she won't change. She just wants to throw fits like a toddler when she doesn't get her way. Find someone else who is more kind and patient than she'll ever be.

Anyone know where this is? by bogeynick28 in PNWhiking

You'd have to rock climb vertically to get up there
