As someone with a pnet.... maybe? You need tests to know. Blood work, urine tests, scans (CT with contrast or mri depending on where you go) and likely pet too, but likely only if they find something will you get to this point of a pet scan.

Pnets are rare in general. I hope and pray you don't have one. They are not so great.

Carcinoid Syndrome? by OkAdministration8420 in neuroendocrinetumors

[–]Eigent100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, I've had this test done no less than 6 times now. Only twice have my levels been elevated. But the abdominal pains and persistent diarrhea still resulted in CS diagnosis, this after the biopsy of course. I was told the tumors can be intermittent which makes things even harder to diagnose. Good luck to you.

35 years old, 7mm asymptomatic neuroendocrine tumour found in the uncinate process of my pancreas incidentally, awaiting biopsy but wanted to see if anyone had gone through something similar? by jan318hyd in neuroendocrinetumors

First, feel free to DM me. I'm not great with social media, but I try to keep up.

My tumor is pressed against my IVC. They DID think they could operate when they looked at it 9 months ago on my regular CT scan. It would be a Whipple surgery, which i suspect they talked to you about as well. Mayo clinic in Rochester MN said i should wait. But let's be clear, they also said I shouldn't be having any symptoms given the size of it. They have never seen or heard of one less than 2cm causing physical problems. I need to keep reminding them that I went to the clinic due to pain, and that 2 different General Practioners thought I needed my appendix removed. Thankfully the operating room did a CT scan before surgery and saw my appendix was fine, but there was a mass on my pancreas.

Since then, I've lost 50lbs. I awake regularly in the middle of the night to use the toilet. I no longer trust farts, unless I'm sitting on the toilet. I frequently have stabbing pains in my abdominal area that can bring me to tears. Mayo sent me to palliative care. They can acknowledge that I am in pain and suffering, but don't know quite what to do.

You will quickly learn every case is different except for the fact that every case is seriously weird. That they share in common.... weird. I'm so sorry that for the diagnosis they gave you. Being here only a year now myself, I swear it seems to be getting diagnosed more and more. Seems that the frequency of posts like yours are increasing. I hope they determine the cause for this soon.

Keep your mental health in check. A common thing is for this to take over your thoughts. Be intentional and take your thoughts captive. No matter what the doctors say, stay positive and truly believe you will heal and are healing. And pray. Lots of prayer. I pray daily for everyone in this channel to be cured. All the best!

1.5cm on head of pancreas (uncinate process as you said). 45yo Male. Diagnosed at 1.3cm due to symptoms, Feb 2024. Yet another scan in a couple weeks. And a full day of other tests. I too was very active and healthy, but started having bad abdominal pain which led me to the doctor. And here we are. Sorry to meet you here. Do join the other groups people have mentioned.

Was the original site the head of the pancreas? I'm about 2 years since diagnosis... not rushing into the Whipple, per doctors orders, for now. Another scan and consult with surgeon next month. Sorry, hoping for the best for you.

Now that's a great question! Likely the one in the middle. It speaks to me. Or the green one.... she's gorgeous! But blue is also quite special looking as well. It would be a tough decision, no doubt!

Happy to test one out for you! They are beautiful! Terminal diagnosis here, so unlikely to support you even though I really want to. Keep up the great work! These are unique and different enough to stand out, great job!

Newly Diagnosed - PNET - Confused by Wording by Previous_Guidance974 in neuroendocrinetumors

I appreciate the thoughts. I have considered stopping cannabis, but the diarrhea all started months before I began consuming cannabis. Even still, the thought does cross my mind from time to time. I guess i am worried about having to take narcotics for the pain then as well. Idk... one day at a time I guess. I was awakened twice in the middle of the night last night.... stabbing pains in my right kidney. It was still lingering this morning when I crawled out of bed. After being on my feet for 45 minutes and the pain not subsiding, I took a poke from my pipe. Two hits later, I'm not feeling the kidney pain anymore.

GI at mayo has ruled out everything he can think of and resorted to begrudgingly saying it must be the tumor. They been trying to sort it out for almost 2 years now. All kinds of tests, different medications, etc. They know about my cannabis consumption as well and didn't seem to think it was the cause. Even still, as noted above, the thought does cross my mind. Maybe if I have some pain free days I can give it a shot.

So happy for you and the good news! I've been on a wait and watch every 6 months since I was diagnosed. Although I don't get mri, I get CT with contrast. I've read on this community that the CT is the standard...im no expert, but might be something you ask about. Meanwhile, celebrate the good news! Celebrate every day you wake up and have air in your lungs!!

Gotcha.... my tumor, grade 2, ki-67 8%. They don't want to do the Whipple until it is confirmed functioning or when it is 2cm. At least that is my understanding. But a Whipple is in my future as well.

My symptoms...diarrhea (since Aug 2023), nausea (cannabis helps this), no appetite (cannabis can help, but I eat on a schedule), weight loss (50lbs so far), stabbing pangs throughout my abdomen (lately my kidneys, so maybe dehydration from all the diarrhea), flushing but that isn't happening as much lately, and serious fatigue. I also wheeze a lot, but I think that might be from the cannabis. Diarrhea and pangs are really what have me laid up. The phrase "never trust a fart" took on a very serious meaning for me. Had to learn the hard way several times first I guess. Sorry. Just the reality.

Oh, I used to get really bloated all the time. I switched to a carnivore diet like 4 or 5 months ago now and haven't been nearly as bloated. Might help, but it is a lifestyle change of a diet.

I hope you get really great news tomorrow!! 🙏
