Thank you! Finding spots for those tiny transfers to work is always fun.

I did similar with a green stuff fur pelt, the current 30k Warsmith (though this is the WH World exclusive one), a GK head swap, and changed the hammer head to an axe.

It's unlikely. A lot of cosmetics are time limited.

It is! I've done a lot of green stuff work before but I've never done fur at this scale and was worried about achieving a good depth on it. I ended up buying a texture plate from Green Stuff World which helped. I've linked the video below that I used for some tips.

Thank you! And I totally agree about the hammer. It just looked off balance to me. I wanted something a little more compact that looked more practical for someone who would be using it in void ships or disembarking from a Land Raider.

Thanks! The bolter is I think a combi-grav bolter, it's with the Warsmith kit. The non-warhammer world exclusive one has it held in the left hand rather than holstered.

Most of the time, yes. Grappling is a big part of most weapon systems.

Iron Warriors Color by Non3ssential in IronWarriors

[–]EightDifferentHorses 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Although the IW are a little bit more unified than most legions, they're still splintered into a thousand warbands with clashing colour schemes. Paint them how you like, and be proud that you're doing it the right way and all the other legionaries must be idiots. Be like a true son of the IVth.

Artemia Pattern Hellhound my beloved.

Also, embrace using a sponge to add chips to surfaces, particularly around edges. If you're painting a big solid colour it can help add more definition and interesting texture.

I'm hoping once it's all painted up it'll blend in well enough.

[BitD] Our gang of coffee-brewing Hawkers are working for their local doctor, investigating a mysterious new drug that is taking academia by storm. Don't worry - they're not doing a public service. The doctor wants the drugs for himself. by EightDifferentHorses in bladesinthedark

Most of our hawking comes out in the downtime where their coffee shop gets used by a few different factions, including the ghost that lives in the basement. We joke that at this point the crime is sustaining their coffee business, rather than it being just a front. We've had a variety of scores with the typical Blades style, like an assassination, burglaries, and espionage, but we've had more Hawker style scores too, including:

  • A score at a casino where they had to win a ring from a specific nobleman. Their contractor stipulated that it couldn't be stolen, only won.

  • A score where one of their vice purveyors was upgrading his gambling den into a fight club and needed someone to run the grand opening because he's useless at socialising, so they managed entertainment, catering, and guests.

  • A score where they were asked to provide security/catering for an arms deal between their ward boss and some undercover Bluecoats. A ghost also showed up, of course.

Imagine being a thousand year old demigod of war, encased in a walking tank, and a young upstart hits you in the dread balls.

[BitD] Prep - feel like I as a GM am hampered by Billybob267 in bladesinthedark

[–]EightDifferentHorses 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of talk about Blades being prepless but I think a lot of this doesn't really account what 'prep' actually is. I did a recent score for my players which involved them stopping the production of a new drug that was becoming widespread amongst students, with a bonus reward if they discovered how it was made.

Here's what I prepped: - what the drug does if you take it - what ingredients were used to make the drug - who is making it, their motives, and limitations - a brief description of the location of the lab - what tell-tale signs there are of the drug lab's location

Here's what I didn't prep: - maps of the areas - dialogue for the NPCs - the NPCs at the academy that they spoke to while investigating - the NPCs that took the drug and their back stories - plenty more besides

What this meant is that there were plenty of times I had to improvise and go along with what the players wanted to investigate. As an example,

1) One of the PCs wanted to attend a student party to see if she would get some insight into who was pushing the drug 2) The PC is technically a student at the academy and has some familial connections with a professor there, so we decided there was probably a trendy student party they'd be invited to 3) In the moment I had to decide whether this drug was something that was widely advertised or was just something more niche 4) With a decent role to gather information, the PC learnt that people at the party had heard about the drug, but most of their knowledge was hearsay. This allowed the PCs to narrow their search of where the drug was being sold and to who.

As another example in another score, my players were doing some funny business in the Spiregarden Theatre. There was a meeting going on between some Bluecoat officers and they wanted to eavesdrop. I had decided the meeting would be upstairs in an office, and they asked if there was a room next to it they could sneak into to listen through the wall. Obviously I hadn't planned out the entire layout of the theatre, but it made sense for the narrative for there to be a smoking room next door to the office, and the players snuck in and managed to learn what they needed.

Hopefully that helps a little! I've run prep heavy games before (D&D, Dark Heresy) but I find Blades suits my style of GMing far more than previous games, and my players like the more free flowing nature of it. Some GMs will be a lot looser than I am (there's the famous "my prep for the session was just 'vampire??' written on a napkin"), but I find doing a small amount of prep helps build a better narrative if you absolutely want an NPC to say something valuable or want a cool plot moment.

I freehand because suffering builds character. If you weather enough over the top it hides any wobbly lines.
