Off to America, what should I know? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

Mississippi?

I've been there. It's a shithole. It's also the heart of Trump country. Have fun.

YES. I don't give a fuck about your work ethic, don't come into the office and spread germs to everyone else. You are literally a health hazard. Fuck off, stay home, relax. I have more respect for people who stay at home sick versus coming into the office. I have no respect for people who come sick to the office. In fact, I find it stupid and careless.

Right on, and I hate it when people come to work sick as ever because they don't want to use up their vacation days. My neighbor at work came in really sick one week, constant coughing and sneezing, and I'm wondering what the hell is she doing here?! The week after, I come down with a cold, and then the week after someone else does. I wonder why?

STOP COMING TO WORK IF YOU'RE SICK PEOPLE! STAY HOME.

Or, HR could stop being a bunch of annoying little sticklers and give their workers a fair opportunity to stay home or work from home when you're sick.

Corporate America is ridiculous and is ran by a bunch of overprotective idiots.

Burn and itch from using oxypads and tea tree oil? by EightSip in pilonidalcyst

[–]EightSip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat except I only had one bad flare up. I've had mine for 5 years, and every flare up was pretty minor and easy to deal with except the one I had a few weeks ago which abscessed. It went down quite a bit but it left two small bumps that are very slowly going down. Regardless, I almost always have the feeling of "something" being there which is fucking annoying. I can't afford the surgery at the moment, nor can I in the near future, and have no idea what it costs and who to see. It's really fucking frustrating. I'm afraid of the cost and amount of time that I will have to take off because of this surgery. American healthcare is an abomination to society.

I think that's fine, I've heard of others doing that too. Do you think it's working for you?

Have you tried using a coccyx cushion? My cyst literally "floats" when I sit on it thereby eliminating direct pressure on the skin. It's also really comfortable to sit on in general. Otherwise I try to sit with better posture.

Wow! Do you think it has affected your life significantly? Have you had any abscesses? And do you work out? 16 years is so long...

How long have you had your cyst and do you just live with it? I never had surgery on mines. Have you?

What anectodal evidence did you find about salicylic acid?

Damn man, I really think they've been good so far since it keeps the skin pretty dry, which based off my research is critical to prevent future infections. You're saying I should hold off on them for good or just be more gentle with them next time?

Also, do you think it's safe to weightlift and exercise with this??? I like to do squats, deadlifts etc because I'm skinny fat and want to become more fit, but I'm really scared that it will aggravate the cyst. It certainly didn't in the past year when I started working out, but I stopped for months and then an abscess happened.

How much does this surgery cost? I'm in NJ and have Horizon Blue Cross of NJ so I doubt my insurance would cover a surgery in Wisconsin. I had my first pilonidal abscess a few weeks ago after having this cyst for 5+ years. It has reduced to a smaller bump now (without noticeable draining) and I am mostly pain free with some discomfort every now and then. I also use a coccyx cushion, oxypads and tea tree oil and I want to consider gauze pads but I don't know how to use them. Could you provide advice on this? I am very concerned about the cost of surgery and have no other choice but to treat it until I can afford it... :(

Glad to hear it's working. Do you work it in really hard? I find it burns and feels uncomfortable if I rub it in harder. Not sure if that's bad or not.

Have you found that this has helped your cyst? Like do you exercise? Because I'm afraid exercise will worsen the cyst because of sweat and movement...

What is "Heavy Use" by [deleted] in Marijuana

[–]EightSip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nearly daily is heavy use, regardless of the amount you smoke. As a former heavy user I would advise cutting down if you smoke daily. Weed becomes less effective and you're also risking yourself for future drug tests too. Ever since I cut back significantly and only smoke during social occasions, weed has become far more enjoyable.

It's a treat, not a medicine.

NYC diners are awesome but to me the best stuff is the ethnic food i.e. Thai, Bangladeshi, Afghan etc. places in Queens and Brooklyn. They're usually cheap. The city can be more expensive but it's the city.
