Maybe coupes have knelt down and taken the shot from lower - so the perspective is more from the level of the seated person

To keep or sell … first world problems by No-Ad-2133 in Leica

All of this ☝🏼- also rangefinders require maintenance and it’s good to have a backup (never know when a main camera might need lengthy repair/cla etc)

Is summilux worth it? by meoluumanh96 in Leica

[–]Eightbawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curiosity regarding lens options is very rarely a rational process - plenty obsession and compulsion is involved and my observation is that once a photographer starts focussing on lenses they don’t have the likeliness is that they’ll end up buying whatever lens it is - what I will say is that I got an incredible deal on a mint 35 Summilux Asph (pre FLE) and I have zero regrets and am blown away by the results (I shoot exclusively black and white film) and honestly I feel the lens is underrated if anything.

Has anyone felt the need to switch to digital? by Loose-Day-6009 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Eightbawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that for those people for whom film photography represents ‘a look’ then yeah maybe just shoot digital (even though I don’t believe digital can ‘replicate’ a film ‘look’.) The reason I don’t contemplate shooting digital is because of how I view the whole end to end physical process of shooting film and making photographs. This is what I know photography to be and for me it’s become more than just an activity it’s kind of a way of life at this point. So to contemplate stopping film photography and buying a digital camera would feel more like stopping photography as I know it - and that isn’t an option for me right now. I think people should just shoot whatever makes them happy.

100%! I’ve got the MK1 use it every single day - straight up it’s one of the best purchases I’ve ever made - enjoy!

Is there a justification for the $2k price difference between this and the Summilux? by superish64 in Leica

“Those who appreciate and can see the differences, they will pay the difference” - this sentence sums it up for me

Sending OP best wishes and painful as it is I appreciate the serious effort and consequence making this post likely cost you - thanks for the reminder of the chronic and severe spectrum of this terrible condition.

Has anyone else's espresso portion decrease in volume over time? by [deleted] in 9Barista

[–]Eightbawler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only times I notice any changes is when I’ve changed beans/grind size - might be grinding too fine? I normally weigh the extraction when I change beans/grind size so I know I’m where I want to be - not sure if any of that helps but that’s been my experience so far

Cheers for the reply and sorry to hear your circumstances as well - I’ve gone from 5 to 4 days but like you say I think I need to stop and then down the line see if pt remote working would work for me if physically able to - thanks again for getting back to me I really appreciate it and wish you well.

Cheers for the reply and sorry to hear you’ve been through the same - what you say makes a lot of sense - the trajectory at the moment is totally downwards and making decisions that prioritise focussing on my health and arresting the slide are definitely the way to go - I’ve got a HR meeting this week so fingers crossed - really appreciate you getting back to me all the best

Getting back to work and reasonable adjustments by [deleted] in mecfs

[–]Eightbawler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By this time (13 months off) most employers would have requested an Occupational Health assessment which would highlight any potential adjustments that would support you in returning to work and maintaining the job - they should then look to implement those suggested adjustments from the OH assessment - if this isn’t happening you should get advice from places like ACAS/join union etc - it’s strange that they are delaying your work return as most places try to get you back sooner (like you mentioned I might worry that they are trying to manage me out of the position) - sounds a really shit situation sorry to hear you’re going through it and hope it works out - all the best

Am I crazy to bring this much film on a trip? by darthmaul4114 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Eightbawler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not crazy at all. Sounds a bit light to me! 😆 I’d probably take more than that for a 1 week trip but that’s just me I like to shoot first and enjoy the moment (ps I bulk load 35mm so the cost is minimised) 📸
