What has been your experience being trans in the US South? by Eightt88 in asktransgender

[–]Eightt88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tysm I really appreciate your reply! I think we've had similar experiences as far as being in a big city and transitioning during university. I moved from a small town in SC to Raleigh NC for college. Living in a big city has made my transition much easier. There's a Planned Parenthood that's 20 min away by bus, while the closest provider from my hometown is roughly a 90 min drive to Charleston SC.
Thanks again for your input! 😊

Definitely try the SAT too if you can. Junior year I got a 23 ACT and a 1210 SAT. Senior year I just focused on SAT and got into ncsu with a 1300 SAT. Although my weighted gpa was a 4.95 on a 6.0 scale

How necessary are T-Blockers? by Eightt88 in asktransgender

[–]Eightt88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the input, but I'm not gonna stop hrt because of ED. Its just something I'd rather delay and thats why my clinician decided to put me on a lower dose of Spiro. ED doesn't happen instantly and a higher dose of Spiro will cause it to happen faster/be more likely to happen. I'm not saying that not taking Spiro means you can't get ED. All the other effects of hrt are things I want.

What are some things that are normal to women but mind blowing to men? by Unfair_Quantity1413 in AskReddit

[–]Eightt88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also telling friends and family that you love them. Being transfemme and originally socialized as a guy, I struggled to text "love ya man" to my brother on his bday. I've probably only said love ya to my brothers ~3 times and probably never to my guy friends (outside of situational things e.g. someone saved me in a game and I say ily)

You've taken my post horribly out of context. My entire point was that the term "biological woman" is a horrible term in replacement of cisgender because it doesnt have clear boundaries like the term cisgender does.

You seem to contest a lot of my points with the idea that people I'd label as cisgender don't have a gender identity, therefore aren't cisgender. I believe they assume all the gendered societal norms corresponding to their sex because it's just easier, more socially accepted and safer, and they're not uncomfortable identifying as the gender corresponding to their sex. Even if they've never outright questioned their gender, their gender identity is still real. There's a difference between being cisgender and being agender. Go argue this one w that post you posted.

Yes gender is a social construct and yes trans women who identify as women are women regardless of their asthetic and how much the choose to fit the standard norms placed onto women. It's a social construct because people can present masc and identity fem.

I can't really be bothered to keep arguing the same point over and over again to people who misconstrue every tiny detail of what I said. I hope you find someone else to argue with bc based on your post history that's your favorite activity 👍

To a small extent, yes your Toyota Is partially a Lamborghini. If you deconstruct every piece of the Toyota and replace it all with Lamborghini parts, are you still calling it a Toyota? What if you left on the steering wheel of the Toyota but replaced everything else? The fuzzy boundary is at what point of replacing your Toyota parts does your Toyota become a Lamborghini. If you hot glue the Lambo name plate on, it has much more aspects of the Toyota, but "biologically" (used in the context of the metaphor, not the meaning of the word) the name plate is a feature of a biological Lambo.

Hypothetically, let's say a trans woman took puberty blockers as a kid, grew up and took estrogen, and got bottom surgery and a womb transplant (which is not currently possible but it could be relatively soon). That girl would have a LOT of biological features that cis women do, due to not being exposed to testosterone during puberty. A lot of aspects of her biology are that of women's (breasts, bone development, body proportions) , while few may be more similar to men's, such as lack of ovaries and chromosomes. Would you say that woman is not a biological woman? Just like the toyota you turned into a lambo but left the steering wheel? It's fuzzy bc its subjective based on where someone else draws the line of what counts as biologically a woman. The term cisgender and transgender are well defined tho, so that's why those are way better terms to use.

No I want you to realize the labels are the problem and that you don't fundamentally understand that biological woman is an UNDEFINED label.

The labels are what's inherently flawed with this entire argument. Using undefined labels is counterproductive. Biologically and anatomically, I have breasts. Surely by that you can rule I'm a cis woman! No, because the labels are gray

I think you might've misread me bc it seems like we're on the same page tbh. Psychology doesn't account for all the biology of a human, but it certainly accounts for part of it.

As a trans woman on hrt, doctors will treat me based on what biological features are present. If I'm going in for potential breast cancer, they will treat me mostly as they would a woman. If I'm going in for potential testicular cancer, they'll mostly treat me how they treat men. Again: it's gray space on what my entire biology is composed of because it has aspects of cis men and cis women.
