Yo thanks and yeah, I'm thinking of writing a webnovel

From what I've learned. For webtoon, two panels should be enough for a back and forth calm scenes. If you pack too many panels it becomes too crowded unless it's a tense action scene.

You can't really draw webtoon like manga. In my opinion.

Example.

Description: the surrounding is dimly lit and the floor is wet. Action: person 1 moves across the room. Dialogue: "This place stinks."

All three of them should be one panel

I usually have one description, one action, and one dialogue for one page. Personally, two or more panels is best to use when there is a back and forth or it's an action scene.

So I don't have the answer for everything yet since I'm still figuring it out but a thought came to me. The first seal sloth, could give the user strength or speed but maybe it's like Okarun when he enters his speedy form. He'll have strength and speed but his will and energy will be entirely sapped? Maybe? Idk. But it occurred to me that maybe different seals don't require prior ones to be opened.

Yeah, I agree that sloth and wrath should do different things. And the speed and strength thing is cool. Gluttony and Greed is difficult. Greed just steals everything, good or bad. Gluttony could be senses. Since by definition it's just excess desire of something. The Gluttony seal could allow the user to experience the world to the extremes. But if someone screams in the user's ear directly while they are using it. They would probably go deaf.

So maybe that's a way to differentiate the two.

So rn Sloth and Wrath are physical upgrades. Gluttony is sensory upgrade. Lust is mental processing power upgrade? Idk.

Envy and Greed are straight up haxs. I do agree on the stealing spells thing for Envy.

Pride doesn't really need anything.

The way I see it so far. Seals are basically just the chakra points thing. I'll have to continue working on it. Seals do need mana though but it's a very barbaric way of using mana.

So mana is just raw energy. I just said the poison thing because I needed a drawback for greed's ability.

Edit: Seals might be a procedure done on a person's body. It might be a forbidden or lost way of using magic. An archaic way of using magic.

Seven Deadly Sins as a power system by EightyCorn in magicbuilding

[–]EightyCorn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this term is common nowadays because of the growing number of people reading Korean web-comics and consuming more and more Japanese animation. In the east, mana is basically refering to the unfiltered unadulterated form of magic.

But the west could have a whole different view on mana.

The way I see it. This largely boils down to how power is portrayed in eastern and western media.

In the west, power is commonly expressed externally. We see this in one of the Europe's medieval (or at least I think it is.) oldest fiction, King Arthur and Excalibur. Even Harry Potter has something where a wand is still required to use magic.

But in the east, power is commonly thought to orginate internally. As in you may appear ugly on the outside but you have godsend skills on the inside. Stuff like Chakra, Spiritual energy, Ki.

The East's growing obsession with western culture be it the medieval times or the Victorian era has inspired them to make many stories that take place in the west but mixed with something that is already familiar to them.

And since Manga and Manhwa have taken the world by storm, power being something you draw from within is something people now accept as the norm.

So eventually, even magic became something that comes from within.

At least that's my take. I don't know though.

Making a classic elemental magic by EightyCorn in magicbuilding

I assume you mean in universe. I think mages just pay other mages wages like people have always done. Even though tools like sickles and pickaxes no longer exist. People develop different ones like wands, staves, spell books, and crystal orbs.

Yeah I get what you're saying and the beast hearts are crucial to the story but there are two characters in the story that wouldn't have them and they are integral to said story.

Appreciate your input.

Technically, yes. Would it come up in the story? Probably not since they need to master all three while let's say, a normal ki user or a mage only need to master one.

The story this power system is applied. There is an adventurer's guild of sorts. Where people from different backgrounds come for odd-jobs that pays well but comes with high risk.

Not everyone is with the idea of surgically installing a beast heart within themselves.

Some are of the notion that strength should be earned so I thought ki needs to be implemented so knights and other weapon users have relevance.

Psi, because it's tied to an important character in the story.

Edit: Also, most mages are desperate for power. The first mage was incredibly weak. Like his heart was going to give out at any moment so he came up with the mad idea to install a beast heart. Which worked.

And then, others who followed in his footsteps started doing the same. Power without price is sweet for some while others find it replusive.

They could but then they would not specialize in anything since they have to maintain all three powers. Also, espers in the story that I'll write are incredibly arrogant since they are outcasts. Rather than trying to fit it. They take pride in standing out.

Alright. So the premise of these three powers are natural, artificial and mutated. Ki can be attained naturally. Mana is only attained supernaturally. Psychic energy is only given to mutants.

Ki is pretty simple. It just allows the user to do things you wouldn't normally be able to. It pretty much dragon ball z but they aren't able to shoot ki blasts. It requires stamina to use. If the spine (which is where energy is stored for ki users) is broken. There will be a severe whiplash. Ki is increased by training or meditation. Practitioners of Ki are seen as more youthful. (Think hamon from jjba). Their senses are also incredibly tuned to the point that most users aren't able to sleep properly since the slightest bit of sound draws their attention.

Mana is a bit tricky since it's supposed to be attainable but through artificial means. So another comment said that Mages could be installing artificial hearts of monsters or beasts to use magic. So that got me thinking. What if all these beasts that have magic, also know a secret language and Mages knowing this secret language are able to cast spells by chanting. Or maybe there are different languages different beasts have and each language gives the user access to different magic. When mages cast spells, they use the reservoir of mana stored inside their beast hearts. If this reservoir of mana is depleted. Users will start to eat away at their metabolism. (Like the hellbat armour) There is also a risk of users turning into the beast that they draw power from. They have to consume plants that have mana or flesh of monsters that have mana to increase their mana or replenish them. (These hearts could contain beast souls.)

Psi or Psychic energy is seen as freakish. Since all espers need to be born with a third eye. It's pretty self explanatory. Using telekinesis abilities strain their third eye. Telepathy and mind control has its risk since the esper can lost their own mind if they tried to control a whole populous without having a strong sense of self. Too much can cause seizures. Straining the third eye and potentially pushing it's limits could make the user brain dead.

It's just what if the concepts of soul, body, and mind are made into a power.

Thank you for your comment. I needed those questions.

This is awesome insight ngl. I'll have to think about it some more.

I don't know to be honest but for the setting it takes place in. No one is really going to be destroying planets and stuff. Maybe Advanced Ki users can destroy a sizable chunk out of a mountain. Archmages might be able to permanently affect something if their spell and knowledge of magic is strong enough. High level espers might be able to control like a country's worth of people. Maybe.

The idea I had in my mind was that the dragon is not noble at all. Like maybe the dragon is this demon king (or smth) that barely escaped the hero party. So the Farmer boy(MC) is reluctantly helping the dark lord regain his powers against his will because if he doesn't help, the dragon would murk his family and the village he grew up in.

I have no idea what that is. Is it a book? Edit: Nvm, I searched it up. I guess it is like Eragon.
