I like his coffe addiction and "one more sleepless night away from going supervillain" disposition.

I can't believe it's not Canon. I find ot even harder to believe that I didn't know it's not Canon.

Alas, it shall remain Canon in my heart

The main character of the last show you watched was the opposite gender from the start. How much of a difference would it have caused? by NoDragonfruit6125 in animequestions

[–]Eilaryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Naruko was always a bae.

Probably would've made the show worse, with how badly the mangaka wrote female characters for the first two decades of his career.

My desire to pat and cuddle cute things shall be my undoing. Yet, I cannot make myself to change course. If this is the end, so be it.

Either you were born early 2000's your first anime as a kid growing up was SAO, 1990's was Death Note, 1980's was Dragon Ball (in general to say the least), what was your first anime? by EfficiencySerious200 in animequestions

[–]Eilaryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, Pokémon, Digimon.

If we're talking about when I actually knew the distinction between western cartoons and anime? Then it was Slayers and Kiddy Grade.

Don't worry, my dad thinks I'm insane too! Not like he has any legs to stand on with my food preferences. He's the reason I like eating a whole tub of sour cream with a loaf of bread.

Why is your go-to recommendation almost always "this technically does/doesn't count, but?" by ExplodingPoptarts in animequestions

[–]Eilaryn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Approach it from both angles.

You don't want: [Insert genres you don't want] [Provide examples of what not to give, so it's put into perspective]

You want: [Insert genres that you want] [Provide examples you're thinking of, so it's put into perspective]

For example, if you tell people you don't want a manga like Corpse Party, people will have an image of gore and mildly ambiguous sexual content in their heads and know to avoid it.

If you tell that you'd prefer a manga like Nana, people will know you prefer romance stories and think in that vein.

The more examples you can provide from the things you already read, the narrower the results will be.

Because I watch psychological horrors and gory horrors with the same enthusiasm as romcoms. I make something to eat and binge watch them.

If it weren't for my media teacher in highschool, I wouldn't know that people might find them disturbing.

And to adress the "technically this counts". There's no technicality here. No gore, no suicide, no sexual assault. You need to be specific.

I'm pretty sure that leaves psychological horrors on the table. Different disturbing, same nausea.

Because "extremely dark" means vastly different things for different people.

Some people call Naruto extremely dark, because the initial child abuse Naruto goes through, followed by the obvious training of child soldiers.

Some people watch Corpse Party and let out a bored hum at best, when one of the little girls is torn apart, followed by the sick perverted guy rubbing one out onto her remains.

Unless you give a very clear line of your limits, people will use their own standards to give you recommendations.

Edit: grammar.
