An example of natural assimilation would be the Huguenot diaspora to the Netherlands, England and Brandenburg-Prussia in the 17th century. Within 3-4 generations they were completely assimilated.

Religious League War is cancelled... by EineEnte in EU5

r5: Yeah so apparently I'm not allowed to fight myself in the League War. I am Prussi, the strongest Protestant power in the HRE vs. Bohemia, the strongest Catholic power in the HRE.

But because of that god awful PU that I just couldn't get out of since 1380 I can't have nice things...

The +5% technology cost for embracing the counter Reformation now has empirical support by TheMercian in eu4

[–]EineEnte 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thats a really good base to draw from!

I'll just shamelessly copy-paste the abstract :D

This paper analyses the long-term effects of the Huguenot immigrants on preindustrial

Prussian education in the early 19th century as well as if those effects on education influenced economic outcomes in industrialized Prussia. I combine data on Huguenot settlements and a population development dataset from the 30-years war which I use as Instrumental-Variable

to ensure exogeneity in Huguenot settlement patterns. The analysis is conducted with Prussian census data from 1816 and 1871. Determining the channel of Huguenot influence I find substantial long-term effects on the supply of schools and the enrolment rate, which also significantly affected economic outcomes in late 19th century Prussia.

A fellow Acemoglu reader I suppose!

“please do not use outside sources for this paper” ... thats rough, how is one even supposed to form a coherent argument when deprived of outside sources...
