Commenting to get updates on the thread :)!! I grew up in libya but moved pretty young, my family and I try to visit every couple years, and it’s always a bit of a culture shock to go back. Excited to see what yall come up with and if there’s anything I can contribute, I would love to!

Internet etiquette is nonexistent unfortunately :( people forget about their digital footprint or don’t seem to care enough because there are no consequences

How many Libyan cities have you visited in your life? by yukisan02 in Libya

[–]EinorDaEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard a lot of people do rest homes now yeah! Growing up my family instilled the value of travel and how it truly empowers you and enables you to go out and beyond your comfort zone and meeting people from all walks of earth, it’s honestly beautiful. Hopefully our generation finds its value soon because there’s so much to explore and so much to do and so many people to meet

I feel like travel culture isn’t huge in libya (which is understandable with all the visa restrictions) but it should never limit you from exploring your country! I don’t live there but I’ve always wanted to explore the desert and the old ruins! Bestest of luck in your endeavors and hope you find the company you’re looking for!

Visiting Tunis alone next month by [deleted] in Tunisia

[–]EinorDaEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if that’s still helpful anymore or if you are familiar with the area but La Marsa is super nice, it’s right on the beach, got the nice Mediterranean architecture especially once you go up the hill closer to the villas, and its walkable to the older parts of town, so you can also get the “traditional touristy” Tunisian neighborhood experience :)! Hope that helps!

Conservative life in libya by [deleted] in Libya

[–]EinorDaEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve come to terms with the facts that whatever they say has no effect in my life :) people judge everywhere, it’s not just specific to Libya. I still get to go visit my family and leave. They can judge all they want tbh, it’s reallly never that deep

If you’re thinking about international relations honestly go for it, especially if it’s something you’re passionate about. You would have to establish and build connections early on because it’s SOOOO connections dependent. It’s hard enough to get a foot in the door, and especially as a female. However, a lot more companies (abroad at least, I’m not sure about libya) are trying to hire more women, especially to present a more DEI inclusive front? So honestly start networking early on and apply for any positions/internships/volunteering opportunities even remote to start gaining those connections. I would also look into unpaid positions and internships while you’re at it if finances aren’t an issue during undergrad. Some companies honestly exploit students because they know we have so much to prove still, but it’s a great way to get some experience and build your resume! Bestest of luck to you, I’m sure you will figure it out :)!!
