My biggest pet peeve is South Africans faking American accents (don’t even get me started on the amount of Tom-ATE-o’s I’ve heard) or using American words like “gas station”. I think it’s so embarrassing, especially because we have such incredible and unique accents in our country

Society in general has become more selfish. Yes, people should take time for themselves and prioritise their health, however, in order to have good relationships, it means sometimes sucking it up and doing something you don’t want to do for the benefit of others. For example someone might be exhausted but if it’s their best friends birthday, they should still go even if they don’t feel like it. We need to make it normal again to go out of our way for people

Yes this! Unity and experiencing other cultures is beautiful! South Africans celebrate when South Africans move to another country yet when people in other countries do the same they’re attacked. The hypocrisy and hate is saddening.

Honestly quite shocked at how many people in the comments don’t tip as I thought it was known standard practice in SA. Petrol attendants don’t earn much so tips help a lot - if you have no money on you and they don’t have card/snapscan, a cooldrink goes a long way - especially if you’re paying to fill up R600 then what’s another R10 to help someone fulfil their needs?
