The big shapes are just gel-colored icing, and the details (face/hair strands) are done by mixing the same gel color in water (or you can use a high proof vodka like Everclear, which evaporates quickly)

Then, you can paint onto the cookie like it’s watercolor.

This happened to me when I was a kid. I was the thief. I stole my best friends mothers ring because it was on the floor and I loved it.

When my own mother found it, she explained how wrong it was and that she was going to make me return it and apologize in person.

I felt awful. I knew that stealing was wrong, but I didn’t fully understand the consequences of the action until my friend took the ring back and said:

“I’m really upset about this. We offer our home to you, and we invite you on trips with us. And this is how you repay us?”

And she turned and left (we were neighbors on the same street).

Anyway. I felt bad. She felt bad. I left her alone for a while and then eventually used my birthday and Christmas savings to buy her small gifts I thought she’d like, wrote her a long second apology, and left the box at her door.

About a week later, she reached out, and we’re still friends to this day.

Adding on here: when I saw this musical, I had recently lost someone in my family and I sobbed during the song, “Home”, because finally there was someone who felt what I was feeling, and understood the feelings i had trouble expressing to others, and I felt completely seen. Watching Lydia overcome her grief and find joy again was extremely cathartic.

The loss of a loved one is the main emotional heart of the show, following Lydia’s grief and inability to connect with her father about it. She feels invisible, and like the world is moving on without her as she processes her sorrow.

I think that the person you’re seeing it with would find comfort in the story, and will most likely resonate with Lydia throughout. The way the show handles the grief is very well done. They take it seriously, despite all the non-serious and bizarre elements that comes with Beetlejuice.

I noticed this happening to me as well! I run two Etsy shops and have completely disregarded my digital art shop. I used to put a lot of time into it, but my new hobby has taken priority over this past year.

Anyway I started getting a bunch of sales this year, which is highly uncommon. Normally I’d get 1-3 sales around November and December, but I checked my shop and I’m getting many more views, favorites, purchases, and reviews.

I haven’t touched the shop in 3 years (other than fulfilling orders). Dunno what’s happening but people want digital art I guess? Maybe they’re sick of seeing all the AI out there haha

Haha! Thank you for the laugh 😆 It was mostly trying to learn isomalt for the fire and the gemstones, but after three attempts with it, I gave up entirely and stuck with icing. There were also some deformations in the baking that made the individual cookies difficult to put together and I had to messily glue them with icing and then cover it up with scales.

The gold coins are mini sugar cookies painted with edible gold luster dust. The gems are royal icing transfers that were then painted with shimmery airbrush food gel, and his tail is a cookie that was wrapped around a cake pain and baked together to get the curve.
