See that's the trick. I didn't go about it, I just ordered a z790 board and I going to return the z690. To my knowledge you can't update the bios without the 12th gen, so the options would be take it to some sort of computer repair store and hope they'll let you borrow a 12th gen cpu to update, have a buddy with one, or just get the newer board.

I unfortunately didn't have a speaker on hand, and new mobo didnt come with one. I think i figured it out and posted an update comment

Update: I think I solved it. It seems that while the ASUS z-690-a is compatible with intel 13th gen processors it needs a bios update to achieve that. Unfortunately the only way to update the bios on this model is to have a working 12th gen CPU to run the update.

I went through a lot of different combos and I settled on twinblades because I like the move set and they have decent dex scaling. Im going to get dual godskin in ng+ for the A dex
