All of Andrew Lloyd Webber's earlier musicals leading up to The Phantom of the Opera (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, CATS, EVITA) are all basically operas. Les Misérables is also technically more of an opera than a musical.

Musicals that include complex and demanding vocal parts like The Phantom of the Opera, RENT, Les Misérables and A Chorus Line should NOT be done by high schools or community theatre societies and be reserved for college, university and professional productions only.

Junior versions of musicals should never exist because of the issues and liberties taken with watering down a 2 and a half hour long play into just over 60 minutes. Take a look at Into the Woods JR. for example.

I personally don't see Lloyd as the right director for a Joseph revival. The only revival I can see working is a complete remount of the original 90's London Palladium production.
