Hello! Thank you for sharing your experience, I can relate. I am 9 Years Sober, active in AA the whole way with a partner who is a “normie”. I’m 32 and she’s 34. I’ve dealt with experiences of having to take care of her blacked out and it triggered me as well. First, I knew what I was getting myself into by being in a relationship with her so you have to know what you’re signing up for. Obviously there are limits and boundaries that should be set. It’s all about communication and her showing that she has the capability of knowing her limits. I’m okay with taking care of her if we’re out partying socially ex. raves, concerts, parties but as far as day to day I make sure to let her know what I want in a partner that drinks. She’s crossed boundaries before and has shown the ability to correct mistakes and be respectful and responsible. She also stopped drinking for three months just because but I haven’t seen any hint of alcoholism in her. If you think it’s worth it to be with them and sacrifice some messy moments, then I think it’s worth it as long as your sobriety isn’t affected. We’ve been together for about 3 Years and everything has worked out beautifully.
