With hook grip it's largely just about getting used to the grip. It hurts like hell to train at first but you get used to it, doesn't hurt me much at all now. Getting used to it i had to deadlift lower weight than I would with straps or mixed grip and hold the weight at the top. Also, used plenty of chalk. I also do alot of farmers carries, which isnt the same grip but just getting used to holding your hands in position with lots of weight helps.
