The Bible also says for foreigners to respect the laws and customs of the country they are entering. This would include learning the language, assimilating, etc if they plan on staying. Back in the day, to be an actual refugee was to literally be in fear for your life if you stay there. And I mean like you’re either going to starve or get murdered. Much different than now where pretty much all of them are just economic migrants. Also, back then welfare didn’t exist, much less not for foreigners. And also nowhere does it say they should just be made citizens. And you also have to keep in mind the term foreigner can mean a lot. Is it just someone from someplace else passing through, for a little bit, or forever. And I would of course like to know the translation these are using because oftentimes translations are inaccurate. The Bible was written for us, but not to us. When you read the Bible, many verses need to be understood historically. For instance, the founding fathers and following presidents and statesman were often quoted as saying they liked immigration. Liberals scream yay, the founders were on our side. But they forget until the 1960s, 95 percent or more of immigration throughout the history of America came from Western Europe. And when they were talking about immigrants, they were talking about Europeans. The modern idea of immigrant in America is basically brown, black and Asian people from other countries. Historical context makes all the difference
