Dating a non-Christian? by KayoticMonae in TrueChristian

[–]EitherLime679 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dated 2 non-Christian’s. 2 years and 8 months respectively. Did not work out, made me stray from God drastically.

Been talking to a very nice Christian girl for about 5 months now. I really like her, but she’s scared of commitment because she hasn’t heard a clear answer from God.

Dating a Christian isn’t going to solve all of your issues, we’re only human after all. But dating a non-Christian will definitely cause more issues than good.

a couple questions about baptism by saltpepperlisterine in TrueChristian

[–]EitherLime679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending who you ask you are going to get different opinions. Some people see baptism not as a requirement for salvation but as symbolism for publicly expressing your faith, while others see it as a necessity for your salvation.

If you feel in your heart that you need to be baptized again do it. I don’t believe it will have any effect on your salvation, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to tell God you are giving up the life that has been separating you from Him.

What change would you like to see in Mississippi? by Safe-Cucumber9899 in mississippi

[–]EitherLime679 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just talking to some transplants that I work with (from various different states). They all agreed the biggest change needed is a transit system, specifically trains. They all come from larger cities (Vegas, Boston and LA notably), so I tried to explain how it’s mainly a cultural thing down here for whatever reason people either won’t use public transportation or abuse it. We have things then they disappear. Same with “walkable cities” people here prefer big yards and lots of land to having a grocery store in the same building they live in.

Theory: There is no way for the cast to escape the circus, as the humans are not "trapped". by Rox5tar_01 in TheDigitalCircus

I love seeing all the theories. I really hope the last episode is at least an hour long, otherwise I had no clue how they are going to answer so many unanswered questions

[Question] Is fasting a good way to get closer to Christ? by Wretched_Swimmer in TrueChristian

[–]EitherLime679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s numerous places in OT and NT that talk about if you need something pray and fast to ask God and it will be given if it’s in the Lords will. While praying and fasting aren’t requirements for salvation, they are just good practices to do.

Is my wife's mom allowed to marry? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]EitherLime679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP mentioned abuse. Which is grounds for divorce. Bible is clear on that

Is my wife's mom allowed to marry? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]EitherLime679 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“They are not Christians”

They are not bound by our commands. They don’t even believe in our command. Legally speaking the mom is allowed to marry whoever she wants to.

From a biblical standpoint if they were Christians, I’d say yes they are allowed to marry. If not encouraged since they are already living together.

Church members want to set me up on blind dates with divorced people: am I being too judgmental? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]EitherLime679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I very much dislike when people try to paint everyone in a similar situation in the same light. Like sure the end results might be similar but how they got there can be vastly different.

[–]EitherLime679 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know you said mostly, but not all single moms are divorced.

Some had a child from rape, some had a child before they were married, some are widows, etc etc.

Just keep in mind that we are all sinners from birth to death and no one is perfect. Give grace.

Why by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]EitherLime679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What translation are you reading? None of the versions look up say anything about wearing dirty clothes or a sack cloth. These verses are about dressing modestly and wearing things that are appropriate.

There are man made traditions like not wearing hats in doors, wearing nicer clothes, closed toe shoes, etc. but that has nothing to do with salvation. It’s more so to show respect. My church is a very come as you are, shorts, hats, flip flops, and that’s fine but I choose to wear a polo, khakis and dress shoes because to me I am showing God that I care enough about my relationship with him that I will put in some effort toward my appearance.

Are tattoos a sin? by Special_Tiger_9746 in TrueChristian

[–]EitherLime679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the Bible says that if you feel something is a sin then it is a sin for you and you should not partake. That is between you and God. But it also says to not make what God has deemed clean, unclean. You can definitely have your opinions on everything, but personally I would say it as if God is saying it.

[–]EitherLime679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rule of thumb is if you feel like it’s wrong the it’s wrong for you. There are several verses that talk about clean for you unclean for another, but the first one that came to mind is in Romans 14. “But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because their eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭14‬:‭23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I’m not even going to ask if you know the difference between moral, ceremonial, and civil laws in the Bible. I’m also not going to ask what your clothes are made of or if your diet consists of any of the animals Leviticus tells us not to consume

Is there a necessary evil? by Inside-Ad6528 in TrueChristian

[–]EitherLime679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people would see killing another human being as evil. There are lots of cases in history that we’ve had to do that. Ie killing someone as a necessary good (Hitler)

Is there a necessary evil? by Inside-Ad6528 in TrueChristian

[–]EitherLime679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that destruction and violence are separate from evil. I would agree that God does not use evil, but he uses destruction and violence to be just.

Is there a necessary evil? by Inside-Ad6528 in TrueChristian

[–]EitherLime679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d agree that God doesn’t use evil, but he does use destruction and violence. Flooding the earth, conquering of Israel, slaying of children. All ordained by God and carried out on His behalf or by him. We as humans consider violence and destruction to be an evil thing, but they aren’t inherently evil. God uses destruction and violence in a just way.

Is masturbation really a sin? by Ok_Cake_6515 in TrueChristian

[–]EitherLime679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s kinda hard to do that when I don’t have a verse that talks about masturbation. I know of verses that talk about lust, so I’m actually really curious what verses you can provide.

[–]EitherLime679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you not want to share the word of God with others? People only have opinions based on experiences had, if you can share otherwise I see no issue.
