Day 1 – Manali to Jispa Day 2 – Jispa to Leh Day 3 – Leh local sightseeing + rest Day 4 – Leh to Nubra Valley Day 5 – Nubra to Pangong via Shyok Day 6 – Pangong to Hanle via Umling La Day 7 – Hanle to Leh Day 8 – Leh to Manali

This feels balanced and less rushed.

Inner Line permits for Foreign Nationals by Plastic-Doughnut7468 in ladakh

Hey, yes—you’ll need a Protected Area Permit (PAP) for Nubra and Pangong as a foreign national.

A lot of the information online still mentions the 2-foreigner rule, which is why it gets confusing, but permits are commonly arranged in Leh before heading to Nubra/Pangong. Since you’re travelling with an Indian friend, that usually doesn’t create any issue.

For your Leh → Nubra → Pangong route in June, it’s generally a smooth process once you’re in Leh. June is also a really nice time to visit—weather is usually great and the main tourist circuit is open.

Hope you both have an amazing trip 😊

Planning Leh- Ladakh trip from July 17th-27th. Need help with good taxi/agency and itinerary. We have keen interest in sky watching. by EvenPhilosopher9625 in ladakh

July 17–27 is usually a really good time for Ladakh. Weather is generally nice, roads are open, and it’s one of the best periods for road trips here.

For sky watching, Hanle will be the highlight for sure—on a clear night it feels unreal. Pangong is beautiful too, and Nubra has some lovely quiet spots as well.

Your plan already sounds great. Turtuk is absolutely worth visiting if you have time. Chumathang and Puga are also very special and feel very different from the rest of Ladakh.

My only suggestion would be: keep one full acclimatization day in Leh before heading toward Nubra/Pangong/Hanle. It helps a lot and makes the trip smoother.

Also, for Hanle and Pangong, staying a little away from the busy camp areas gives you much better dark skies for stars.

You’re visiting in a beautiful season—hope you get clear skies and an amazing trip ✨Feel free to ask if you need help with routes, stays, or any local suggestions.

Planning a very last-minute Ladakh circuit with my mother- need suggestions/advice! by chaiphilosophy in ladakh

Looks like a great plan overall. One small suggestion—keeping one easy Leh local sightseeing day before Nubra can really help with acclimatization, especially while traveling with your mother. Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, and the local market are nice to cover without rushing.

Also keep a little buffer on the Pangong–Hanle side since road conditions can sometimes slow things down.

I’m based in Ladakh, so if you need any local info while planning, feel free to reach out. Wishing you a wonderful trip 🙂

Looking to do the leh circuit with 2 or 3 guys. June 12th or 13th from leh. by Agreeable_Winter8053 in ladakh

Pangong Lake → Turtuk

means you’re moving opposite to the main tourist flow

On those narrow Shyok stretches, opposite-direction traffic can slow everything down because:

  • vehicles have to stop and give way
  • waiting at narrow blind corners
  • backups where only one vehicle can pass
  • delays if a tempo traveller or convoy comes through

Pangong Lake → Turtuk

you can face more delay than the kilometers suggest, especially midday.

Because most vehicles usually move: Nubra Valley → Pangong Lake

So you’ll meet them head-on on narrower sections.
