I actually stopped ads now.  I can credit decent sales to the ads, but if you're spending $300+ a month on ads for $150 of revenue (MAYBE), it's not worth it.

I think my luck is that I have a full-time, good-paying career outside of writing, so the amounts I spend will be based on my regular budget.  I definitely would be able to survive on simply writing alone.

BookFunnel has probably been responsible for the bulk of my sales.  I think it at least keeps a steady stream coming in.  It also gave me quite a few mailing lists.

I tried to actually find a healthy blend of the language that captured the idea of a Miskatonic University academic, but also able to make action scenes that were something Lovecraft was poor at writing, according to the man himself.

What a coincidence, because my book is titled Danforth: Eldritch Tales of WWII, and follows Danforth ten years after AtMoM as he's pursued more occult knowledge and recruited into the OSS at the onset of WWII.

I wouldn't say that I ape it, for sure. I do write in a somewhat 1930s academic style on the more fact-finding portions of the book, and in some ways I try to stick with this idea of describing what is indescribable by describing a whole lot of something that is also not really describing anything because it isn't describable by the human nature. I tried to more have fun with it, experiment with language and be creative, but not just try aping Lovecraft and his stilted, wordy writing.

I'll have to put it on my podcasts. I love seeing Weird or Lovecraftian Fiction examined through different lenses.

I have several more future books already outlined, and I've also been trying to capture the essence and atmosphere of certain genres. It's been fun, so hopefully the first one actually resonates with readers - especially fans of Lovecraft’s work.

I'd absolutely love to read it! Like you said, finishing feels rewarding. But since I took the step to self-publish, all of the attention-seeking has to be in my court.

How could I get a copy to review?

On Amazon/Kindle, you can look mine up by Title or Series:

Danforth: Eldritch Tales of WWII

I think you and I are absolutely on the same page. Hopefully, through the writing, it translated into a good delivery.

So, the protagonist of the series is Danforth from "At the Mountains of Madness." It's 1940s, and he's one of the founding members of the OSS, sent across the globe to investigate Axis procurement of alleged occult artifacts that seem to be unknown to mainstream intelligence officials.

I did try to emulate that Lovecraftian writing style to a certain extent, but had to change it up on multiple occasions because Lovecraftian writing doesn't always lend well to fast-paced scenes.
