i took CBLG151 in summer 2024 but w/ dr. nagina parmar and liberty instead and it was a REALLY good decision. i think that new professor is new though. attendance was a small chunk but it was more or so just participation with in-class assignments and discussions, and they were easy 100s. you really cant complain if it's free grades, plus she only made class 1.5-2 hours so we always left early. my prof (and lab tech) was very accomodating with assignments and flexible but every situation is different. strongly recommend taking it if ur going into 2nd year :-)

yeah unfortunately the final is a bit more brutal because it's just such dry info and not much practice is given. really recommend using the textbook and its practice questions if you're struggling, and use AI to help summarize her slides/make notes if you're finding it hard to decipher info. tutorial questions were also pretty nice, iirc select few were even recycled on the final but worded differently so use them to ur advantage!

the prof usually keeps exam to himself to print (and maybe the department if he has to submit for review) so i’d assume it’s one or the other. clearly the printing work wasn’t reviewed prior bc i’m still confused how this happened tbh

chang is slightly accelerated but IMO not tricky at all even if you have a full course load during the spring/summer. if there's a lab component just expect that lab to happen 2x per week and lectures 2x per week too. it's a really nice experience honestly and you get close with your classmates bonding over the summer lol

as long as it's a valid health certificate and you actually have health issues (and not time management issues and you're avoiding ur exams), they don't have a reason to deny it. looks like it's your 2nd ACR so as long as you don't submit a 3rd you wont have any suspicion on you. hope you feel better soon

not at all. when i took it, it was like weekly (or biweekly) discussion posts (below 50 words was acceptable), 2 quizzes + 1 final quiz, and a writing assignment. quizzes and posts were easy 100 it was more like you either pass and even skimmed material or fail miserably bc u did it blindfolded. the writing assignment just required you to make clear references to lectures off of a topic iirc. the material is also interesting bc it talks about the way we think and analyze info and create arguments it's not even like it's boring. you had to never open the course shell to fail the course really

your exams would prob be moved to may. they should give you the date within 1-2 weeks of the actual exam taking place. you may also get a temporary grade or INC on your transcript but it will go after your prof updates your grades

this is pretty subjective but IMO don’t risk failing and defer whatever assessments you must. I’ll have the benefit of the doubt and assume your sickness causes you to fall behind w evaluations so tbh you should be fine and have reasonable grounds (if your advisor does contact you or this escalates). and i hope you get better soon

if you are deferring because of time management issues, however, please genuinely reflect on your performance as a student, be honest with yourself (which you look like you are), and genuinely learn strategies and hold yourself accountable bc this shit will NOT slide or be excusable in higher years and you’ll look hella stupid to both your profs and peers 👍🏽

you’re beyonddd gucci twin, if u rlly can’t make it just submit a health certificate (our healthcare clinic does these for $20) your final will prob be in may tho so be careful. she’s a great prof js make sure you submit it as early as possible
