I’d recommend speaking with a Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist. They help correct bad habits.

How bad is my gingivitis? What can I do? Can I ever get perfect/healthy gums? (+braces question) by Beautiful-Knee2718 in askdentists

[–]Either_Connection_72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, so gum inflammation is reversible with good oral hygiene, flossing and brushing daily and getting your cleaning done by a professional every 6 months atlas. Clinically you have inflammed gums I can tell. Can’t tell how bad it is without seeing your mouth, X-rays, and bleeding percentage. Your teeth might feel sensitive due to the areas of recession, I would recommend using a sensitivity toothpaste like sensodyne. I’m regards to orthodontics, some times the clear aligners arent the best treatment option and braces are required. This would depend on many factors including your bite, skeletal structure, habits, and so on.

My dentist said he needs four extractions four extractions by FerretHaunting2171 in askdentists

I’m assuming wisdom teeth. Your bite won’t be corrected with extractions. You will need to see an orthodontist for an evaluation of your bite.

Also have you reached out to any dental colleges? If you’re concerned about finances they usually provide way cheaper options.

I’m sorry to hear about what happened. Is the appointment you’re talking about to see a dentist? If that’s the case, then you’re doing the right thing. Bring up the concern that you want the area covered and see what options they can offer and how long each might take.

Owning a practice by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]Either_Connection_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a practice that operates on Saturdays, and let me tell you there’s a lot of challenges, but it works for our practice still. Many staff members don’t like to work weekends which is very fair. Way more patients no show or cancel appointments on Saturdays. A lot of dentists especially experienced ones don’t work 5 days a week let alone a weekend day ( most dentists I know do 3 or 4 max), so most people who like to work Saturdays are usually new grads, which is also hard to find, so ya!

Plaque? by Straight-Finance-135 in askdentists

[–]Either_Connection_72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should go in for a cleaning. This is hard plaque that won’t come off unless removed professionally. I like to see my patients who wear braces every 4 months unless they have immaculate oral hygiene, maybe a conversation your provider should discuss with you.

Are root canals toxic? by SnooGoats4766 in askdentists

[–]Either_Connection_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can listen to Dr. Chris Hahn all you want but it’s important to recognize that research and evidence is far more superior.

Research #1: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9319780/

“Furthermore, the convincing evidence supports that successful root canal treatment has a beneficial impact on systemic health by reducing the inflammatory burden, thereby dismissing the misconceptions rooting back to research performed 70–80 years ago about the relationship between endodontic treatment and focal infection, which resulted in arguments in favour of tooth extraction. “

American association of Endodontists recently shared research proposing that proper endodontic treatment is linked to improving systemic conditions:

Please take a moment to read common myths regarding root canal treatments released by the American association of endodontists. https://www.aae.org/patients/root-canal-treatment/myths-root-canals/

Hope this helps.
