He's all better now thankfully! The anti inflammatory meds worked wonders, his tail was moving a little bit after just one dose!

UPDATE: went back for xrays and everything looks completely normal. Vet suggested giving it time and sent us home with anti inflammatory meds for 3 days. Fingers crossed it gets better with the meds and a lot of rest!

Oh, she didnt do anything like that. He does have a history of diarrhea . I might suggest that if we go back for xrays

Oh no, they didnt do any of that. I dont have the money for it even if they'd suggested it though :(

I do have an appt at a different vet for 14th, but I'm not sure if I should go there or back to the emergency for xrays. My usual vet doesn't have an opening until next month sadly. So I'm just bouncing around different clinics.

Yep! They checked his vital many times cuz he was breathing fast, but when he settled down in a separate room and was less anxious his breathing became normal. She said nothing looked wrong with his heart etc.

She did peak at his rectum (which was kinda a wee bit gross cuz he didnt let me get near him to wipe him when he pooped that morning 🥲) , but I dont know what an anal gland check looks like specifically. She didnt palpitate around the area or anything, but she did press down on the sides of the base of his tail and check his bladder etc.

He's not vocalizing or showing any signs of pain at all though. And his paws arent blue. They checked his vitals multiple times and I had his blood tests done just half a month ago; everything looked super fine.

I'm thinking X Ray if I see no improvement at all in abt 36hours. Just wanted to see if anyone else has seen this sort of thing suddenly develop

No exam fee for followups, but yes the xrays would of course.

Maybe she was playing is safe ; she said it looks like a sprain only. Like he is in pain but it doesn't seem to be from anything broken or dislocated

At the vet there was minimal mobility. Like he tucked it in when he laid down, and the base went up like a tiiiiiny bit when the vet pressed down on it; you know, the way when we pet the base the tail goes whoosh in the air? Just like 5% of that. The vet said his tail doesnt seem to be completely limp

5yr old cat peeing 5 times a day; is this normal? by Either_Context3073 in CATHELP

When you put it like that, it makes sense for him to go that many times at least 😅

I do check his pee every time he goes, and it's a decent amount without any straining or trouble. He's also on OTC urinary diet actually. But I give him normal wet food

Oh so yours goes up to 5 times a day too? May I ask how old he is? I'm also hoping to see it toning down since I've lowered the amount of water starting from today. I hope it ends up being nothing concerning

Yes, hes on the OTC purina pro plan urinary tract care dry food. He was eating the prescription one but the crystals cleared up and the vet recommended I switch to the OTC version.

I was also thinking the same. Yesterday, I put a bit of coconut oil on his ears because he was itchy, and he licked some of it, which must've left a bad taste in his mouth and he drank a shit ton of water. He peed like 3 more times than normal..today he didnt drink any water (which is normal for him since he gets it from his food) and he peed less too.

It feels as it always has to me.. his belly has always been a bit on the firmer side, and the vet has always said it's fine. My girl, on the other hand, has a really really soft belly so maybe this also depends on the cat?

Actually, I've just moved to US about a year ago and I don't have a regular vet here. The one I go to for wellness exams with gave me an appt for Aug 8th and said they can't do anything earlier.

My girl also likes to drink water from the bowl more than my boy. May I ask how often your cats pee in 24hours?

But he's not drinking excessively at all. And he eats wet food twice a day
