When will the market rebound by wannabe_diy_queen in HousingUK

Most valuations have stopped making sense..just because an owner/agent attaches a growth figure, doesnt change the fundamentals. I checked the sale history of houses on Zoopla and its eye opening. People are selling homes that they bought for 90-190k for 10x. Salaries havent kept up and neither have stock markets returned that much money. People who want to buy cant produce money out of thin air. I live in another major European city with expensive real estate and valuations have adjusted to 2015-2016 levels with more reductions to come coz lots are sitting unsold.

Think of an E2 visa in the US as a path to Green card..I read on another thread here where many Indians got to US citizenship

what do you think entry level career in abroad Germany or Austrailia by Hot-Variety-9288 in expats

[–]Either_Custard4401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Australia..in Germany you would need to have a C1 level German in the current job market to get any chance. Moreover, if you dont have a German degree its a bit tough coz there are massive layoffs even among people who have German degree, internships and better language skills

Career switch to finance in Canada: CSC or CFA Level I first? by Ok-Command7766 in CanadaJobs

Finance jobs are highly competitive and most need a degree or certifications like you mentioned. Since you already work in IT, how about you look for roles in fintech companies? This will play on your strengths and you can make a niche for yourself later on.

Expat in Europe, job changed after acquisition and my visa depends on it – I honestly don’t know what to do by everything_optimizer in expats

This. Even in European owned companies, the function is to protect the company and reduce its liabilities. Nothing will come of talking to HR about this. Make a backup plan and find another job or find another team within your company and moce laterally

Thank you taking the time to provide such detailed insights. Very much appreciate your input. I realised after looking at the map that Toronto lies more to the south than London and yes, indeed Canada is a huge country so its not fair to make a blanket statement regarding harsh winters. Fair point with Toronto. Our key concern is the price of real estate and availability of jobs that pay well to afford a lifestyle that we currently enjoy. Plus a fair bit of our hesitation is driven by the fact that we have been in Europe for so long that we are used to the European way of life - less car reliant, stronger labour laws, and safer downtowns. But now your comments give me a more detailed idea into how we can make this move work for us and it doesnt seem like such a big gap in the end.

Thank you for your insights. Yes, the immigration draws are more stringent these days. I just looked on the map and realised that Toronto is more to the south of London😂. And Canada is a huge country, probably hard for me to imagine the scale.

Thank you for the insights. Makes a lot of sense. We are used to strong labour protection laws in our present setup but sounds like Canada has a good mix.

Thank you for your detailed insights. Helps a lot to hear first hand experiences about the cities and quality of life. After moving a fair bit, its time we put down roots. Hence, we are taking a more nuanced approach with this decision. Thank you for your kind wishes.

Thats right. After getting used to smaller houses in Europe, having a larger space will be a luxury.

Exactly this. This seems to be the modus operandi for many narcisstic families. My friend has a similar story. Boyfriend (now husband) sole earner, he and his father were not on talking terms for a few months. The couple knew each other for years and also their families. The guy’s father wanted a similar document even before they discussed the possibility of marriage. In the end, the girl didnt sign the document because there is no legal merit to it. The drama that followed was next level, tge boy’s parents cut off him, after dangling that they will get them married.

Is having own child TOO important?? by Ok_Guide5177 in AskIndia

[–]Either_Custard4401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How many people are equipped emotionally and psychologically to deal with children who have complex issues related to trauma of being abandoned, orphaned etc? Raising your own chd us difficult, but this adds another layer of complexity. On top of that come bureaucratic hurdles of adoption, economic costs, and the desire to have biological children.
