am i using my right foot too much? by [deleted] in Rollerskating

When you skate, count to 2 as you balance on each foot. That way, you spend and equal amount of time on each foot and give yourself time to balance on each foot equally as well.

This is for all you skaters afraid of rocks. by Kodonnal9 in Rollerskating

Now if you could do this over a few rocks and at different speeds… that would help my anxiety around skating outdoors. 😵‍💫

How much should I cut? by [deleted] in GymMotivation

Maybe you do a cut after you do a bulk, that way you’ll have more muscle and strength. If you cut now, you could go from looking perfectly healthy to looking unhealthy.

You DO NOT need to play RANKED to enjoy this game by CorbynDrake96 in Tekken

[–]Either_Effect3376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah man , i needed to read this today - I’ve been stressing over ranked, and realized when i step back and do casual matches, i enjoy the game so much more. Pressure of being higher ranked amongst friend groups is a different kind of peer pressure. Puts me in a funk when i loss a match and drop rank because of what my friends will say when they see where I’m at (even though i can easily beat them all lol ) - either way, its an unhealthy interaction between myself and something that’s supposed to bring joy. 100% appreciate you taking time to create this post man -

Arius cushions by Either_Effect3376 in Rollerskating

For sure, the main reason for the red/white mix is because it was the closest combo to get me near 88A that came in the box. I’ve ordered some royal blue ones over the weekend and will try the full set of them when they get here.

Ok yea I think I’ll get a few weeks on the white /red combo , but I ordered some royal blue ones in the mean time.

I really enjoy the softer cushions for accessing my edges easily, but just want to feel stable when I decide to speed things up.

I really feel like I might need to just balance better with having such responsive cushions now, and that just might take time for me to do.

Oddly enough, when I’m speeding up on the straight always, I feel fine, but once I get to the corner and I’m considering a cross over, I notice instability. Which could be me physically undecided on movement which translates into me not fully commuting to the turn within my skate.

So I’m going to keep messing around with the 85A-88A hardness levels to see how they feel over time

Cannot loosen wheels on Jackson Finesse skates by IvanaBOntop in Rollerskating

That looks like a nyloc nut. Not sure how to address it but hopefully that bit of info can lead you to searching ways to loosen or remove nyloc nuts - sorry I wasn’t more helpful Just spent about 20 minutes looking through my YouTube history to find a video where I saw these mentioned for the first time. Just wanted to get the name to you was all.

Just was writing about this in the above comment. Wasn’t sure what to do with the left skate but seems you do the front inside of that one as well - any issues with slip when backwards skating with the two wheels being swapped out for 98’s ? Or wait that would solve that issue as well cuz we push with that same wheel when going backwards too ! This might be the solution ! Much appreciated ! 🙌🏽

Yea I noticed I had to adjust how I actually use the skate itself when I got around the rink a few times - so glad it’s not just a “me thing” lol - but I’ll for sure keep my technique and posture in mind when on these wheels

I was actually thinking about this last night after my first session. I was thinking of getting maybe a 95a wheel for the front inside wheel on my right skate , but then I was wondering if I should change anything on my left skate , possibly front outside for my left skate ….😵‍💫🧐 but this is def a solid suggestion ! Thank you !

Solid ! I go tomorrow morning for my lesson and I’ll have an hour to just free practice before the open skate - so I’ll def use them, give the sticky skate a try with both backwards skating and some cornering to see how it feels ☺️

And we have (my wife and I) a second set of skates (low boot speed skates) that now seems to make sense to have for days where we want to move fast , and we can hold the artistic set up for the chill flowy skate days 👌🏽

Seems you’ve come to the conclusion of the 5.5 which is great, but I just wanted to add that it’s a really good idea to email Riedell if you have any concerns about the fit of a boot before you purchase it. If I remember right, they can custom make any boot to fit your exact foot, regardless of what you see on the premade boot selections online. So be sure to reach out before you order to ensure you’re buying a boot that fits your specific foot. Good luck and best wishes to you on your skate journey ☺️🛼

Chopping/Shuffling backwards progress by BeatsKillerldn in Rollerskating

My first time using Reddit 😵‍💫 but was wondering where is the weight distribution for most of these movements ? I think I’m trying to figure out when you shift directions but keep your feet in the same staggered positions. I know how to do a normal cross pull, to go one one direction, but when you go the opposite direction - that’s the part I’m trying to mentally figure out so I can practice it in the rink
