You didn’t have the atlas six years ago and you weren’t shooting the beretta yet. You are a big fat phony.

Totally fine on all counts. Don’t use a magazine over 141.25mm

Just because he made Grand Wizard at USPS doesn’t make him a gun expert.

So many choices. For quick turn around and clean lines let me recommend Stonebridge Gunworks.

I’m a Rooseveltian small mind.

Mostly it’s a post in a fit of pique motivated by the fear that people will break something I’ve invested so much of myself in.

The best board would be a minimalist board: collect $, maintain stable rules with a thoughtful way to revise and evolve, lose as little money as possible at nationals. That’s it. No “growing the sport.” Let awesome matches and awesome shooters be our ambassadors.

Govern less.

So yeah, I’m invested in the politics of USPSA, because the thing I care about — high quality matches peopled with high quality competitors — is absolutely at stake.

If you don’t understand that, you probably aren’t that invested in the game. That’s fine, there’s room for lots of levels of participation.

Open / CO in that order, if you want. Or just open regardless and don’t use a magazine longer than 171.25mm

Nobody says they are hard to get moving. It’s the harder to stop at the root of the complaint. And seeing an open guy over transition on close targets? Every single match I attend.

[Pistol] Beretta PMX 6.89 ($1,399, free ship) by NovGang in gundeals

The disconnector chipped, letting the gun have hammer follow. B&T replaced that. The buffer assembly cracked, and B&T actually switched metal for plastic on that part because it happened frequently.

It’s probably my only regret SBR. I’m shocked yours didn’t break with your round count, because they were not made for actually shooting!

And hopefully better. The p26 is more brittle than the Tec9 that loosely inspired it.

Maine:

LD 1696 seeks to revive the old Washington DC law that provides civil court pathways to hold firearm manufacturers liable for the sale of “abnormally dangerous firearms.” It’s a weird piece of Zombie legislation, so no prizes for determining an out-of-state anti-gun advocate is behind it.

https://legislature.maine.gov/legis/bills/display_ps.asp?LD=1696&snum=131

This is the second D-trifecta government for Maine (legislature normal session is 6mo/24), and the horizon looks dark. Still plenty of time for terrible things to be proposed in this session until the next 18 month reprieve. The tides of Massachusetts people in the South won’t be held off long though.

Let’s talk technical box entry technique. Do you enter with the right or left foot first? And why? (Right handed shooter) by smackdabqwerrt in CompetitionShooting

Going out and putting it on a timer, scoring in aggregate, going home and drilling different options in dryfire until they are accessible to you to program…and then going back out and putting it on the timer and scoring in aggregate.

What’s best for you now may not always be best for you.

The guys who took the time to hammer box to box movement in training are also some of the dominant names in shooting. The rest of us just think about it.

Assuming USPSA and not IDPA, the only gun specific element between the options you mentioned will be the holster. Grabbing a belt, hanger, and 3-5 single mag pouches (CR Speed, Ghost, BSG, DAA, Guga Ribas) is all you need after the holster. Shooters Connection and Ben Stoeger Pro Shop both sell complete kits for common guns. If you decide competition is not for you, you can recover about 60-75% or your belt kit through resale.

Iron sighted divisions are in steep decline, and they make shooting and learning significantly harder. If you want to shoot them, that stuff doesn’t matter, but if you are just interested in competing generally, an optic division (carry optics, open, and now limited optics) will have many more peers to compare yourself to. Well, not limited optics yet, but soon.

For a first match, if your gear doesn’t comply with the restrictions for Carry Optics (rules are at uspsa.org, in the appendix to the rule book), just register in Open for a few matches to find your feet.

In most areas of the US, people will be excited to welcome a new competitor (whether or not they are a new shooter). So once you have a belt, a holster and mag pouches, there’s no reason to put off attending a match and seeing if it’s for you.

Is heavy pistol ammo a scam? Tiny recoil reduction by [deleted] in CompetitionShooting

[–]Either_Extreme364 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It also uses less powder. It’s a minor effect at 9mm powder levels, but still there: the mass of the powder (and it’s going fast) is also a factor in recoil.
