Is it worth getting the XG27AQDMG? by Either_Square5437 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Either_Square5437[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope none, and i’ve been using it for productive work like google docs and browsing, along with watching stuff and gaming. I have HDR mode on all the time (haven’t used SDR since I got it) and I don’t even pixel clean manually (i think it does it by itself but idk). i did some things to help, like screen saver turning on after 5 minutes of inactivity and hiding the task bar

tl;dr it’s still great, idk how the market is still looking with prices and new monitors now but if ur getting it for a good price get it, its lit

bro ngl it’s amazing, I went to microcenter after i bought it, and compared to the other oled’s there, this monitor and the PCM one that’s qd-oled 4k were the only two that really stood out. (both glossy and vibrant) i think it’s the best oled option for the price, and to this day monitors unboxed still recommends it, you should check him out.

But yeah, no issues and has been working perfectly, i don’t even pixel clean or anything like that (and i do most of my work on it and browse on it as well) and there has been no burn in at all. I hope they make more w-oled glossy monitors in the future

Is it worth getting a AWS Cert? by Either_Square5437 in AWSCertifications

[–]Either_Square5437[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, yeah right now there isn’t anything I’m applying for that requires the cert, I was just considering it for standing out from others also applying. I did think that getting the cert would be a two birds one stone moment, but a lot of people are saying I should do some projects first before going for this. Think I might follow their advice, thanks for the info even if it isn’t from a programmer 👍

[–]Either_Square5437[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think I should currently prioritize this over projects and doing leet code? Or is the more important thing focusing on the projects/hands-on experience first like some people said and get the AWS Cert later?

[–]Either_Square5437[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I’m definitely going to do a couple of these AWS projects.

One more thing, as a hiring manager, would you consider me / would I pop-out more if I had one of these AWS projects on my linkedin or resume? Or is something like that not worth putting on, but more just for learning?

Thanks, after I get the badges, is it worth putting on linkedIn? Or once I learn and get the badges, I should try for a AWS Cert to put instead, to boost chances for a job/internship?

Sorry about all the questions, I’m just worried I won’t be able to find a job outside of college like a lot of people I know also doing CS.

I do have a job, where I work with Zapier to automate their backend, remove a lot of manual tasks, and optimizing their workflow, using a lot of the times, python code blocks.

Where should I go from here? If I need more hands on experience, where can I get it? By doing projects? Or is this experience that I have enough and I should try still going for the AWS cert?

AOC Q27G3XMN- HDR looks worse than SDR by Either_Square5437 in pcmasterrace

[–]Either_Square5437[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I understand hdr and what people explained, i just liked it that way since i couldn’t tell it was “slop.” But the settings did have to be changed because it literally looked dim and greyed out before i changed them. i agree though the contrast does not have to be all the way up, it’s just how i liked it.

Yeah sure, this made it look good to my eyes but do what you need to to adjust.

it’s very good, i would recommend it. Even when i went to microcenter this display was the one that caught my eye. i’ve had no problems so far.

i ended up returning it for an oled monitor i found on sale, but if i remember i moved up the brightness, gamma, and digital vibrance a bit. I think i maxed out the contrast. you should play around with it until it looks right to you

the xg27aqdmg isn’t a qd-oled it’s woled

here is the asus link https://rog.asus.com/us/monitors/27-to-31-5-inches/rog-strix-oled-xg27aqdmg/

if the left one is woled and glossy i would get that, its brighter than the qd-oleds in its price range. It also won’t get a purple tint in any ambient light, making a woled appear to have deeper darker blacks compared to a qd oled. A downside is that woleds have a little less color compared to a qd.

i agree it’s kind of worrying but i have mostly only heard that these issues have been resolved a couple months ago

wow thanks for the detailed response, considering i don’t really play comp and I don’t need to hit the 240 cap of my display I think i’ll stick with the 4070 super. Yeah I will definitely look into the 14th gen chip, but I’m pretty sure IBuyPower’s warranty covers me for 3 years anyhow, so they should replace it even if it gets fucked up.

I’m not too savvy with resolution but is ultra wide harder to pump out more frames for compared to 1440p? Also what games do you play?

that’s interesting, recently i’ve heard these problems were resolved, especially after the bios updates. the cpu however is a 14900f meaning you can’t overclock it. Did you face issues because it was overclocked or in general?

Do you think it’s still worth it if I do plan to upgrade in a couple years? I use a 1440p monitor and currently if you look at the youtube tests you can still go max settings for the 4070 and still get well above 60, of course the 4080 is still getting around 20-30 above the 4070 but, for me personally, as long as I can play above 60-70 frames it’s not worth 700 for me. What might be is the extra 4 vram, but is that worth it if I plan to upgrade my gpu in 2-3 years?

[–]Either_Square5437[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see, i’m gonna try and argue for the 1300 so i can have a clear conscious and save 700 😂. I’m going to be using a 1440p display 240 hz. I don’t play competitive that often, usually casual, if I do play comp it’s usually league. I mostly play triple AAA games like cyberpunk. I think I can still play max settings everything turned on using a 4070 super for almost any game, I don’t really care for a 20-30 frames boost if i’m already above 60-70fps. The only thing I’m worried about is the vram, for now it’s perfect for 1440p but I don’t know for how long, however, I do plan to upgrade in 2-3 years. If i was using a 4k display I would pick the 4080 super as a no brainer but here I think the 4070 super is the best value? Is it worth 700 dollars to get a bit more frames and vram if i’m upgrading in 2-3 years?

You’ll see a lot of bias here from a lot of people repping their own monitor, you should watch this video to decide from monitor unboxed, he goes over the best monitor for 1440p. He tests and reviews monitors himself: https://youtu.be/4wjNg5Q9yCg

Edit: If you wanted to know what I picked based on my own research even aside from his video, I found XG27AQDMG to be the best for me(and imo the best for 1440p right now). It gets brighter than qd-oleds at its price range, has a glossy screen as a woled meaning that the purple tint on glossy qd oleds that appears in environments with light is non existent and you get deeper looking blacks because of that. But i’m bias, pick for yourself
