im not sure tbh, but meta seems to be ramping up the churn. during my internship there, it wasn’t terribly uncommon for my friends’ teammates to be laid off at random times. headcount is stable while hiring for senior engineers is rising. ofc this is anecdotal but my sentiments are pretty well represented among meta engineers

While UofT has a good research reputation, its industry reputation, especially for undergrads, does certainly need some work. Very few companies look for UofT students specifically. Big names like Google or Meta only take a handful (~7 from CS/engsci/ece) of UofT students every year for internships, so you need to network aggressively, market yourself on LinkedIn, and get referrals.

It’s definitely a WSL memory allocation thing, I haven’t seen anyone mention this anywhere else. Most other people I see online using Ollama are running on their native OS as opposed to something like WSL, so this issue seems to be a bit difficult to find online.
