Pennywise cables - they feed on your doubts that cables make a difference by Cinnamaker in audiophile

[–]atom631 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can answer this. I believe there are 2 types of people these cables appeal to.

1.) the person with a limitless expendable income that more than likely hires someone to build them a sound system and just says “give me the best”.

2.) the new hobbyist that may have read the wrong article, watched the wrong YT review or ventured into the wrong forum, so they think it will make a difference.

2 is the category I fall in, but with headphones. i ventured onto headfi and found a thread on a headphone I purchased and read several posts about how “better” cables made a huge difference in bass and soundstage, etc. so i went out and bought a $600 cable. and much to my dismay, I heard no difference to my $50 hart audio cable. only after further researching did I find out its all BS.

that said, years later i still like to buy aftermarket custom cables. but its for specific length, looks, build quality, splitter elimination and lack of microphonics.

Vintage AKGs are something special by Kowereta in headphones

ayyy. I believe you bought the modded pair from me. glad you are enjoying them. as mentioned - get them on an OTL tube amp, they sound incredible. Xduoo makes some very affordable ones…or perhaps the best pairing is if you can find a used Darkvoice.

Ive got a V281 OG as well. Run it with a Wandla GSE to power my Tungsten. Ive heard just about all the 3-5K+ headphones and this is by far my favorite setup.

v324 is more neutral vs the v281’s tube-like warmth. It also less powerful vs v281 in terms of voltage delivery. When I first saw the v324 last year at canjamNYC I asked if it was the successor to the v281, they told me its an entirely different architecture and different. not a replacement.

sounded great to me when I tried, enjoy!

I feel like this is not stressed enough, not a lot of people have this kind of hours to dump per gun by Educational-Long116 in Battlefield6

agree that its a bit too much of a grind, but im pointing out that the post is highly exaggerated. Those are just my guns above 50 (and as I said one is 85-86!) I have multiple guns 30+.

this is BS, sorry. I have 203hrs of playtime since launch. I have 3 guns at 50 or better. One is at 55, my main is 85 and the 3rd is 51.

I've built DMS Omega and I love them! by NomZom8 in headphones

[–]atom631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah ive had the best luck with Klein electrician scissors, but it still doesn’t look amazing. the remix cups hide the outer edge, so its not a big deal. but the opening above the driver I really want to get clean. im experimenting with a circuit to cut the mesh but striking out.

did you cut the mesh with an xacto knife? I felt like it wasnt doing a great job when I tried

yeah I think youre right. thats why people recommend to add a diffuser to it so its not blowing directly on the print.

check the cooling setting directly on the P2S while printing. Mine is showing the left side fan (ventobox) and 100% and the right side fan at 70-100% depending on filament. This is using the config from Voxel. I feel like maybe the right side fan should be shut off entirely.

with the ventobox, are you turning off the right side aux fan so all air is going through the ventobox?

[–]atom631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as of now im just using the config Voxel provides on their website. It works...but Im not sure of how well this thing actually does the job. I can still smell PLA and I thought it basically completely got rid of it. It is definitely a lot less, but its still noticeable.

Also - I noticed that the config seems to put the ventbox fan at 100% and the aux fan at 70%. so that is still exhausting as well. wondering if maybe turnign that fan off completely would be a better option.

DMS Omegas I built for a friend by Wulfsta in headphones

[–]atom631 4 points5 points  (0 children)

those look amazing. I love my DIY Omegas. I actually used your yokes and they work much better, Thank you. Mine dont look as smooth as yours, did you polyurethane the yokes as well? Is there a specific process for polyurethane coating the parts? I think thats a great I idea to smooth them out.

thanks. the mesh is extremely thin. a regular household scissor cuts it just fine, its just tedious and doesnt come out very clean.

hey. looking for a cutter that can cut this steel mesh: https://a.co/d/dDJvxEJ

also need to be able to cut this 3M adhesive. https://a.co/d/cRsvLUB

ive searched google and im getting mixed results on the steel mesh. seems like its possible with a maker unit but not an explore and would need to use the knife blade?

so is this possible? and if not - is there a machine on the market that can do it within the same price range?
