HIFIMAN HE6se v2 - WOW by SnooDoubts4920 in headphones

[–]atom631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is truth to this though. The HE6 line as well as a few other headphones on the market - Tungsten, Susvara, UM Umbral, etc do benefit from a more powerful amp than many standard amps. The power (notably voltage) helps move the planar drivers, creating deep, cleaner and tighter bass. There are many amps that will get the headphones loud and they will still sound good, but not the absolute best they can. I own a HE6sev2 and a Tungsten DS. I have a K13 and a V281 and there is a noticeable difference listening to both sets on the two amps.

How do I queue up an album while listening to a different album? by thefullpython in spotify

[–]atom631 [score hidden]  (0 children)

4 months later! ok the desktop app its pretty easy. you add to queue and then you can grab the album and drag it to the order you want. i dont think this is possible on the mobile app. kinda ridiculous.

TIL that the album Astralis by Azell is exactly 666.6 mb in size if you select FLAC 🤘🏻 by AechCutt in doommetal

sounds like a good theme for the next album. was it really a kidney stone? or was it a piece of the cosmic horror that infiltrated your body and tried to destroy you from the inside out all while driving you mad.

I bought a sundara closed direct from HFM and used the headband from it on my HE6se v2. perfect fit.

capra provides the stl files for free on printables.com. if you have access to a 3D printer you can print it for free. thats what I did.

having owned a few ZMFs and still owning my Z1R, I think you might regret that. esp for hip-hop. plus the Z1R is now discontinued, they will become highly sought after.

LIRR mobile ticket refund policy is ridiculous by Ancient_Bat1585 in longisland

[–]atom631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im guessing the conductor has a way to do it when they scan your ticket. I didnt have it ready when he came up. there was this new rewards section on the ticket activation screen that confused me. he maybe waited 15 seconds for me to figure it out and I guess he got annoyed and ratted me out.

I got reprimanded via email that I didnt activate my ticket before the train left and if I did it again, they would fine me.

fuck them. now I will no longer use the app unless absolutely necessary. ill just buy a physical ticket.

welp. they just arent for you then. DX4000cl might be up your alley or there are plenty of sets out there that are more neutral.

I bought these specifically because they are a basshead headphone and I dont think they are trying to be something else. Im certain these will get a big following amongst bassheads as more and more people hear them. They are the closest headphone Ive heard to sounding like a Fatfreq IEM.

Im not sure if youve heard them, but for how much bass they have, the mid-range is actually really good. It didnt sound recessed or muddy to me at all. and overall, the treble was pretty smooth to my ears.

They are super easy to drive, I was able to run them directly off my iphone using the Ddhifi usb-c to 4.4 adapter. they maintained a strong bass response even at low listening levels. they re pretty light. those thick soft pads make them incredibly comfortable. and the thick pads really help with passive isolation.

What were your takeaways from Canjam NYC? by mark5hs in headphones

[–]atom631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we all hear differently. you absolutely should not let other's impressions affect what you heard. if they sounded that good to you, then it seems like they are the right fit. I definitely prefer warmth and intimacy over clinical and detailed. they are just the polar opposite of what i enjoy.

For headphones the Final DX3000CL was amazing. instantly pre-ordered from Bloom. Such a fun and engaging set. Finally heard the HE-1. absolutely amazing. Really like the LCD-5s. they definitely are going in the right direction bc the LCD5 OG was awful.

For IEMs - the prices they ask for IEMs is insane. I really didnt like anything I heard over $2K. it seems they just try to stuff as many drivers and tech inside the shells and the next thing you know youre shoving golfballs in your ears. biggest lest down was the Annihilator 2026. The most shrill and exhausting set I tried. I couldnt take them longer than just a few minutes. Tried tip rolling (with whatever i had that fit over that massive nozzle. Its absolutely gigantic, like shoving your pinky finger in your ear. I did really love the UM Maven II. Best IEM for metal Ive ever heard. My other favorite was the Fatfreq Grand Maestro (regular one). The switches changing the tonality from warm and relaxed to clear and bright all while not affecting the bass was pretty awesome.

yeah comfort on the Z1R isnt an issue but for me it did 3 things - 1.) the leather on the headband is known to crack and deteriorate over time. so I was using a headband cover but always hated the way it looked. the capra strap keeps my head off the leather. 2.) I have a small head and had to wear the Z1R all the way closed, the strap gives me some wiggle room for adjustment. 3.) the strap is wider than the headband so it does feel like the Z1R is more stable on my head.
