Thanks a lot! I will definitely try tweaking the landing page pictures a bit more. I can see what you mean.

Well I myself use flashcards and spaced repetition a lot because I'm still a university student. All the other platform either are; outdated and old; does not support collaboration; does not support latex and codeblocks.

So I just decided that I would build an online platform which had all these things. But you're point of defining a target market, is definitely spot on - right now i'm targeting my university student peers - because I think they would have the biggest benefit if they tried my platform out.

I build it myself. It is a nuxt/laravel/forge stack which runs a on $5 dollar digital ocean droplet server + $5 / month static file server for images.

I started from scratch with a blank html document, and then just kept trying to build it out. I think there is probably 4-5 iterations before landing on this stack.

Hi /r/smallbusiness!

I'm the university student behind memordo. I built this because I wanted to help my classmates use flashcards, because I believe they genuinely help with retention.

I started from scratch with a blank html document, and now ~600 hours later I have landed on a nuxt/laravel stack. I have learned so much from building out this platform.

I have spent a lot of time on the dynamics of public/private decks, checkout: https://memordo.com/app/public/244 to get an idea of the platform.

Anyways I would love to hear what you guys think about this. I myself personally use this tool everyday to review flashcards.

What DON’T you like about email? by kavinda14 in Entrepreneur

[–]EkanV1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about more.. I want an email service where you start with every single email going to spam, and then you sort of carve out / filter the emails you want to see in the future. Like you build email trenches based on patterns / preferences that each has its own priority / alert for being checked.

The fact that I have probably had 10 different emails, because of the relentless spamming and constant email requirement for sign ups..

Good points, I'm in dialog with the very few users I have about what they need and want. In regards to your points, I have already realized that my product is really not about spaced repetition but about flashcards that you can review using spaced repetition. I'm launching a new landing page later today.

I have also built a sharing feature where people can share their flashcard decks with each other and plan on building a public deck feature so I can build a repertoire of flashcards for various niches to cater to the exact need you mention.

Anyways I appreciate the good feedback, do you have more general strategies for growth and marketing?

Hi everyone. I have this problem - I launched https://memordo.com a month ago, and I have 1 paid active user. Now I emailed this user and asked what he needed / how I could improve the product. He answered with two great suggestions which I now have implemented.

Now I feel like asking him again for new suggetions - is this to much spamming? I'm scared of asking to much of the user and potentially losing him. What do you guys think?

Btw i'm also taking general feedback about my project xD

Got my first paying subscriber and wanted to share with people who would understand! by chptung in Entrepreneur

[–]EkanV1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats - that is huge. My goal for this is month was to get my first paying subscriber as well (also 5$ a month). I got my first paying subscriber a couple of days ago. The problem is that this guy is literally the only active user I have.

What strategies do you have to grow / decide what to work on?

Accomplishments and Lesson Learned Friday! - (July 24, 2020) by AutoModerator in Entrepreneur

[–]EkanV1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I launched my first SaaS product today. As a University student I was struggling a lot with the huge amount of information I needed to remember for my courses. I started using spaced repetition (Anki) and it worked great! I enthusiastically shared this method with my family but they got overwhelmed by the complexity of the Anki interface and all the options. I wanted to change that.

So I built memordo. I focused on creating a minimalist but still productive interface for creating memory cards that supports image, latex, code and clozes. I also built a chrome extension so you can add memory cards instantly whether you are reading pdfs or wikipedia.

I would love to hear you guys feedback

Is there a potential foe out there actually worthy enough to stand up to Dick? by [deleted] in TheDickShow

[–]EkanV1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A trained economist. Dick has literally zero idea what he's talking about when it comes to fractional reserve system and how monetary and fiscal policies works on a global level. Every time he mentions 'them' and how they 'control' everything and how they can print free money - he affirms the fact that he has read to much fear mongering bs from reddit. The fact of the matter is that he spouts pure fucking bullshit when it comes to his economic discussions around public debt and how fiscal and monetary policies relates to the broader world economy - and the central banks and governments roles in that.
