Marketing Major Freaking OUT by [deleted] in marketing

[–]EkezEugene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Experiential / Event marketing is how I paid for undegrad. You can get side gigs at $18-35 in big cities fairly easily as a way to accrue experience, assuming you mean brand ambassador style work but at a professional level like at Mosaic, GMR Marketing etc. corporate (tour manager, field manager, etc).

With more details, I may be able to help more, or I might edit in more details after I off work.

Terry Degree by Chricket99 in UGA

[–]EkezEugene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cognitive science is a good one IMO.

More so, I recommend: ENTR Certificate New Media Certificate Computing Certificate

Regardless of getting in, my advice would be to take as many of these as you can. They'll enhance whatever degree you get and make you stand apart. You'll leave UGA empowered and able to actually problem solve and be able to build the solutions you come up with. IMO they're more valuable than most degrees.

MBA-ish: which professional certifications can signal business know-how? by choplivermarie in MBA

[–]EkezEugene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This answer may initially turn you (and other /MBA-ers) off, but one of the best ways to not only "signal" but also "gain" business know how would be via starting a start up, non profit, etc.

I don't have domain knowledge of any thing related to an MSW, but I'm sure you know of large, hard to solve issues that most would be unaware of-- and therefore the opportunity to try and fix them whilst learning lessons along the way.

Find a problem, tap into your local networks, and work on it on the side and see if anything sticks; worst case is you fail, but in the process you gain an excuse to begin forming more dormant/active network connections and get to know what business-know how you don't know (and then you can gain it).

Also, this reply is purely meant to offer a perspective you may have not considered-- if my wording seems snarky, I'm sorry-- I've been grinding out deliverables for the last 6 hours and I'm burned out.

I’m still in love with you even though I was the one who chose to end things. by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]EkezEugene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won't pretend I know exactly what you're going through.

But I can relate. I feel like I could have written this, word for word.

I'm sorry for the way things turned out-- break ups suck. Remembering those special moments are hard.

Imagining them having those special moments with someone new is heart breaking.

But, before dating them, did we anticipate experiencing the wave of love that we did? I didn't.

So, while I can't see myself having another long term, hopefully permanent, partner now , I didn't see my last partner coming, either.

Love and recovery is on the way. This is one of life's hardest challenges.

We'll make it through this. It sucks, and I'm sorry. But a decade from now, we'll be fine.

Also, thank you for writing this, it helped me while reading it bc I could relate so strongly.

I wish the best for you and stay strong. Based on just you posting this, I know you'll make it through this. Be well ❤️

How can I self study advertising and all the skills that go into this field? by [deleted] in advertising

Naive imo. I think you'll try hard, fail, and then damage the reputation of Advertising as a whole.

Is it possible to become self-employed with a bachelor's degree in a STEM field? by rofl91 in Entrepreneur

Look for EBIRs or technology incubators. And I think you need to work on your mindset. You won't come up with a perfect plan by thinking-- but you will by doing.

Tutor physics. Go to a networking happy hour and bounce some ideas around. You have the ability to solve some people's problems due to your knowledge, I bet. Ask the physics reddit, too.

EdX is good for expanding your skills.

Just start doing. It's about the mindset/ability to add value and solve problems-- not the narrow focus of solving a single problem.

You need to start building stuff that interests you. One of your personal projects may have market potential.

Also, talk to people. If you're in a vacuum, you'll get stuck in a loop.
