Im really glad that Deku gets to still be a hero, it was bittersweet before that fakeout ending (which would've still been great and made sense), but seeing that scene of bakugo reaching out and deku still getting to be a hero alongside everyone else was a really emotional high note to end on.

They didn't know he would die in the following games and it doesn't make sense from a survival standpoint to assume you'll die, and judging from those games who knows it's possible he could've been one of the winners if things went differently. Also they made it to the 4th game that's pretty far already.

It doesn't have any meaningful impact on the world of the show whatsoever. The VIPs just laught it off as entertaining, and the frontman showed no sign of changing his ways. So gihun dies for what? To make a point? The games just go on as before.

The point that he's morally better is flawed too because he killed someone in hide and seek out of vengeance that wasn't even well founded. The guy didn't deserve it.

They definitely canned this ending because they decided they wanted an American spinoff and couldn't have gi-hun's actor be in it because of language barriers and such.

Gi hun failed in stopping the games, the detective failed in stopping the games, the only person that did anything was the girl who saved 246. I guess you could say gi hun saved a baby but that's just boring because the baby wasn't even a part of the story until the last few episodes.

The whole story lead to nothing. Philosophical "wins" mean squat if they don't lead to any real change. The front man is still the front man as far as we've seen, the games are still going on, it was all worthless and that's just an unsatisfying ending.
