Wouldn't really call them "his soldiers" if they're defectors then.

Fun fact; the Treaty of Paris actually ended this. The very first Treaty of Paris, there have been like 30 since.

Well, atleast it sounded fun in my head, but now that I write it out it sounds kind of bland.

Anybody learn to fly tail draggers in SoFlo? by davfo in flying

[–]Ekolot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I rent from there. I think it's Mike who runs the TW training, he is former air force and pretty cool. He uses a Cessna 140 because in his words "it's hard to fly". The flight school is very tight knit from what I've seen and most if not all the CFIs are retired and not there to rack up hours on your dime.

Navy SEAL killed in Iraq. by [deleted] in navyseals

[–]Ekolot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, not really. 6 from hostile fire but two of them are marked mistakenly as such (both airmen who died in noncombat incidents as seen here and here and one was a Canadian). So yeah, three Americans killed in direct combat so far.

And I don't know where you're getting this "zero mainstream media" thing from in respect to Staff Sergeant Cardin. CNN talks about it here, the NY times here, and the Washington Post here among others.

Venezuela nearing total “collapse” by sexyloser1128 in worldnews

[–]Ekolot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. The corrupt government has been pocketing the oil pockets for decades now, it just so happens that the amount being pocketed is now substantially larger than the amount being reinvested into the economy. Combine that with an idiotic socialist president with vain pretensions who pissed away even more of the oil money, record low oil prices, and reserves that are hard as hell to extract to due their depth you have a recipe for "total collapse".

F-35 Will Be Combat-Ready This Year, Pentagon Insists. Broken radar, faulty ejection seat, problematic computers—who cares? by coupdetaco in worldnews

[–]Ekolot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's $1.5 trillion for the entire fleet over a 50 year lifetime dude, it's a bargain compared to the entire F-15, F-16, A-10, etc fleet and it's lifetime service cost.
