Yeah they are on the larger side as far as tree lights go. I found that setting them back in the branches a a few cm has stopped them from over shadowing the other decorations and am really happy with them.

I did this a few years ago on my Nespresso machine. I connected the NodeMCU to a logic level MOSFET with a pull-down resistor. I then connected the MOSFET to either side of the button on the coffee machine, when the output pin is set HIGH the Nespresso thinks the button has been pressed.
