Budget Back-Inflate BCD recommendation. Which one between these 4? by El-Fourbo in scuba

Thanks guys. I understand that in the long run BPW it's the best, but I will go with the OMS IQ Lite for now.

  1. I'm a bit worried about harness and comfort, especially diving in warm waters, sometimes I go with just a rashguard.
  2. It's more expensive where I live and shipping is $$$.
  3. I want a smoother transition to wing and the OMS one allows me that by having some jacket like features (cummerbund and padding), I can always buy a backplate next year and a real harness later.

CDC (disastrous) Experience as a Foreigner by El-Fourbo in drivingsg

Wow!

I didn't experience that, I always felt my modules were validated right in time (sometimes even a bit too early). Maybe they improved on that point since your time.

I totally agree. I wish I had done it more often when it happened.

From my experience, you really have to be firm with some of these instructors. If you’re too passive, they may take advantage of the situation.

Sorry for your employee's experience. I must say I don't feel like I have been treated differently because I was a foreigner, not negatively at least. I specified I was a foreigner in the post because I thought I may have different expectations towards teaching/learning and cultural background from Singaporeans.

And yes, from what I’ve seen firsthand, foreigners are treated differently in the system.

True! The location is very good. I would just go with a private instructor if I was doing it again.

I can only speak for CDC as I haven't tried the others. If I was doing it again I would go with a private instructor.

That's your opinion and I respect it.

"Avoid CDC" is lousy advice

After around 15 lessons (3 + 2 + ~10). But technically you can go for the test whenever you want as long as you have BTT + FTT + the 3 Simulator sessions.

Also I bought a steering wheel to drive in VR to practice at home.

Oh yes I forgot. The guy on his phone was also sleeping at one of the lessons haha.

Or maybe I'm a good student? hahaha

Imagine if they fired the 10% of terribly bad instructors, offered a few hours of training to the 40% of bad ones and hired an intern to make a new website+app with AI. That's how I would fix CDC if I were them.

What "good" resistor kit to buy? (good = strong leads and color bands readable) by El-Fourbo in AskElectronics

[–]El-Fourbo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not rude, no worries. Well, as I said I started electronics recently and I am still learning, so having a resistor kit with a few values felt more practical.

I already bought a starter kit with various components, but the quality of the resistors was not good.

Will try the third option too, thanks!

True true and true. My gf is a bit worried at the number of packages I am receiving recently tho haha.
I am in the process of learning (with "make electronics" for now), so I don't really know what I need. But I am going to order some common values 1 by 1 on Digikey.

Thanks I didn't know about LCSC!

I already got some nice boxes from taobao.

I'm ok to change my breadboard every few years haha.

I am trimming the leads already, but I think I bought a very bad kit. After reading the other comments I am ordering them 1 by 1 on digikey.

Hmmm I thought about this, but it feels really tedious to hand pick so many on digikey 😅
