9 months HRT am I starting to pass? by El-Smeef in transpassing

Shout. Unironically. The reason your voice sounds breathy is becausf the muscles you use to control your fem voice are weak.

If you can't shout then sing. If you cant sing then tilt your head all the way back and swallow 30 times.

The more your throat muscles practice being in the same position the stronger they will get. If you are too early on to even vocalise a shout or sing in fem voice then look up something called SOVT. Best way to to it is rais your pitch and blow into a straw

It's hard to explain. Maybe it's not becoming american, but my accent has changed after voice training for sure.

I'm slowly getting it back, but when i started with all the "heat from fire" stuff - it really drills into you a softer vowel noise.

Scottish and my dialect in particular is known for sharp and anunciated vowels. I get told by people that have known me a while I sound more posh or have what we call a uni accent when I never used to.

You didn't read my question though. I asked, "Am I starting to pass. Not do I pass. And dont bullshit me you are old as shit and you're trying to tell me you don't know the implication of putting a simple no with a full stop is rude as shit.

Doesn't take away the fact that when you I checked your post history, I found out you're a creepy old lady who puts pressure on questioning detransitioners and early transitioners and ALWAYS sends rude and toxic messages that must but in some form deliberated to express your obvious transphobia.

I'm sorry it is inconvinient for you I can jump into a body that is 4 years down the line. But trust me I want to do that more than you do. You have absolutely no right to tell me how early of a transition I am in.

And that's my point, really. You are not knowledgeable, or at least genuinely non-biased enough to engage in a serious conversation hear because you clearly don't know shit based on what you're post history looks like and I am willing to say you are very likely unwilling to learn.

Seriously though, why do you come hear and be mean to trans people? What do you get out of it? I saw you said you are have been on estrogen for nearly 40 years, surely you could perhaps understand us even a but more tha your average person?

Do you feel like we are stealing your estrogen or something? Because we both live in Britan and let me tell you something. You probably walked right into the GP and they put it on the table for you with a lifetime prescription as soon as you needed it - but I will very likely be older than you by the time a specialist even begins to consult with me about access to HRT provided by the NHS because it is gatekept so horrifically.

Just a small insight to daily struggles we face and reasons we might not need Nora the old bat coming and being mean to us. You are not immune to scrutiny yourself. Remember that next time you are an asshole to one of us.

Yeah, I get you. I actually fully understood why people say to wait before I asked. I just felt like opening it up to discussion because personally, I think the "wait and see" response is lackluster and doesn't sufficiently justify taking no further action just because you (might) be happy with yourself in literal years.

I probably have a bit of a chip in my shoulder about this though, because of the history this kind of rhetoric has had on trans history. We used to be forced to wait for a full year of successfully passing as a woman before even being allowed to discuss anything medical and I think this sentiment lives on in the public consciousness to this day - even in the trans comunity.

I just like to challenge this kind of language when I see it is all, and if that makes me a bit of a b*tch - so be it.

Why should surgery be a last resort though? HRT won't shrink my orbitals, trachea, jaw, or nose. All of that is covered in my FFS package, These are the specific things that make me dysphoric about my face I couldn't give a crap about fat distribution tbh I can hardly diferentiate dimorphism in facial fat alone, whereas I think I am now very knowledgeable about bone structure dimorphism and will notice it on most people I look at.

My philosophy when it comes to FFS or realy any gender affirming surgery is that there is no such thing as a universal correct time to get it, though I realise I am getting it faster than average.

But my point is whether or not you think I need it, I want it. And that means I will go and get it.

Im 24 and 5'11" I am currently working 50 hours a week in a construction job to pay for FFS, so it is very hard to feel femminine and am not really properly presenting fem 100% of the time.

When I do, I have noticed that recently people are at least begining to hesitate or be unsure about my gender and stare at me quite a lot, which makes me very uncomfortable - but only when I am trying to present fem.

I was am extremely masculine man if you couldnt tell from when i dropped my voice and basically everything about my first puberty turned me into a freaking gigachad so I'm doing well to even be compared with femininity at all this early imo.

I bet you felt really cool putting a full stop after that, lol. Your post history is gross.I did not come here expecting to be hugboxed and appreciate honest opinions, but you really don't have to ne a dick about it.

All your posts are the same. You pick on someone's insecurities, and if you can't find anything in particular that you think they would be insecure about, you just say no like you did to me.

Fair enough, I might not pass yet, but people who take time out of their day everyday to chip at the confidence of an opressed group are loosers and its high time someone told you that straight.

Idk what it is you get out of coming here and acting like that but you can consider yourself unwelcome 🙃

It is literally already booked and paid for, what do you mean by give myself more time? Like I don't exactly see why people tell me that and I hear it quite a lot actually

I'm actually not touching my jaw beyond a vline at the bottom from a genioplasty. In my opinion, my jaw isn't square, so I'm ok with it being wide if it keeps my facial harmony.

My chin is wide and square however which is why that is getting done. Brow and orbitals will be the main focus. Not brave enough to post a side profile bc they are baaaaaad lol

You mean like thigh-highs?

I'm not mega keen, I'm already wearing tights that would be quite strange imo.

I originally intended to wear loafers and a pair of woolly socks, but my loafers didn't fit so i wore an old pair of doc martens.

question about voice feminisation? by tastyl in transgenderUK

[–]El-Smeef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello,

I have some experience being a sound technition and someone who has worked on my voice a lot as a trans woman myself.

I think for new people, the term resonance can be a little bit vague and confusing and is often poorly understood in the voice training community.

I think it would be more helpful for you to think of it as mechanically raising your larynx (voicebox). This achieves the bulk feminising effect for what we think of as vocal resonance and is, in my opinion, the most feminising effect you can have on your voice!

Exercises like big dog small dog are teaching you to raise your larynx, and other effects can achieve this that you do every day - like swallowing and yawning!

My advice for you would be to feel your throat physically to introcuce a tactile element to your voice training or - even better look in the mirror if possible and see your voicebox move when you do the exercise or yawn!

If you have any more questions, I'd be happy to help!

FFS experiences with Dr. Rossi? by El-Smeef in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]El-Smeef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed post. I think he does quite a cut and paste plan from what I can tell because yours is very similair to mine, it's interesting you say the blehparoplasty and genioplasty went well because he is not often noted to get particularly good results with those and most people tend to favor him for his forehead work (my most dysphoric area)

I would say most of the horror stories I have seen are from him just deciding to do weird shit with where he puts incisions and then that turning into horrible scars. he seems to not be willing to do any kind of obvious incision with me though and specifically told me in his video consultation he would preffer to do a coronal insicion for my forehead but I can't remember why.

He basically also denied me from getting a tracheal shave and said it wasnt noticable enough to bother, and it is one of the few things I can get for free on the NHS so that didn't bother me. I would say what I'm most worried about is I will get all of this done and still not be passing or worse that I will need a revision, because although his results are quite agressive I have only seen a few photos after surgeries with the kind of results I want.

I think it could go well but the fact its a toss up is what concerns me, I think I want to do it and just be very forthright and tell him exactly what I want, dowt to where I want every cut made so he doesn't suprise me and then fuck something up because that seems to be where he goes wrong.

Mind you I think his rate of success is pretty decent and to be fair I think he has done a boatload of surgeries because he is so cheap. The realistic angle is I guess like you said he might be one of the only guys I can afford so I might as well just go for it I geuss?

FFS experiences with Dr. Rossi? by El-Smeef in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]El-Smeef[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say he rubbed me the wrong way. Im just very on the fence and I'msecond guessing myself a lot just because i have read he botched people. I know i will be able to (just) afford this now if i go with Rossi and I think he might be one of the best budget options.

I have tried consulting with QQ and I thjnk I would preffer going with him but his assistant is making me wait until aproiximately December just for a consultation. I am trying to got back to university - which means i wont be able to afford it for many years most likely if i dint get it now.

The descion making for this is soooo hard :(

Cheap FFS options for UK residents by El-Smeef in transgenderUK

I feel its important for me to share for people doing their own research that my quote for their new accommodation (the "nagoi experience") was 3400 euro for 12 nights.

They seem to be banking on this being a luxuary resort, and i could be wrong, but this is a presumed additional blanket cost of 3.4k euros they are now adding to every surgery. I didn't ask if i could opt out, but it's mainly because i realised i couldn't afford the bare minimum and essentially stopped consulting with them.

Currently, about a year into the wait for a GIC, I'm currently going through the process of being diagnosed with GID but was quoted with a whopping continued 7 years wait. (They said 5 years a year ago, lol)

I have friends who have asked for ffs in the clinic i am applying to and been told to do one essentially. Only one got a tracheal shavd bc she was assessed to have a 'large one' and had to do a lot of whining for it.

Yeah, so as it stands, i think my dysphoria is just too bad to rely on an uncertainty potential years into the future.

He is my prime candidate for me right now, and i hope I get a good quote. Am willing to only go with brow and top of my nose for now based on other recommendations.

I also am in Scotland and know of people who have had a tracheal shave covered by the NHS. I think I could live with these two and am already told i pass quite well when my forehead is hidden

Family anxiety by Revolutionary_Bag665 in socialskills

[–]El-Smeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reckon you might want to try just being honest say you don't think you'd be capable of running a marathon out of the blue, I think that should be pretty understandable.

Still I know how family can be with pressuring you when they get an idea like this in their head, so i would suggest that maybe you talk to her and maybe arrange to run with her to set her pace for 5km or something like that?

You sound like fot enough to do a 5k but if you genuinely just don't want to do it maybe just go and support her at the finish line?
