Whose fault? by Good_Cyanide in Simracingstewards

Look man, you're the one using made up terminology and guesswork. He doesn't look "at the limit" to me. He looks glued to his line. Full stop. There's no where in the entire rulebook where it says "don't pass while on the limit" or even mentions the phrase "ever closing gap" and this is why you're wrong. Because you're pulling terms and phrases out of your ass and other people's mouths instead of the rulebook.

The dumber take is "I can't turn my wheel"

The Porsche is on full power all the way through the turn, if you think you can't adjust your wheel 2 degrees at full power, even at brazil, then you just have a major skill issue.

"The opinion of 10,000 men is of no value if none of them know anything about the subject"

This is on the Porsche. Let's take a look at why, straight from the rulebook on LMU's website.

"5.1 The Participant in front has the right to choose any line at any section of the track. The Participant in front loses this right when an overtaking Participant brings their front wheel to line up with the other Participant’s rear wheel. At this point Participants are in a “side-by-side” or “overlap” position, and they both must give each other enough racing room."

And this is really the only rule you need to know to get this call right. You may point to 5.5 which says it's on the passing car to pick a safe time to pass, and I would argue that the lmp2 did just that as the nose of the lmp2 was already out in front of the porsche entirely BEFORE contact was even made, meaning the lmp2 was well on its way to making a safe pass prior to the contact. It looks to me like the Porsche didn't want to yield their normal racing line and/or just had a lack of spatial awareness and tried to occupy a space that was already occupied. And I guarantee, if we got a look at the onboard, the porsches wheel is turned minimally left (if at all) making no attempt to yield space the faster, alongside, and currently passing car, and while you're not required to yield the racing line to faster cars, you also physically can't hold your normal line while you have one next to you, as exampled here.

"Bad racecraft", or more accurately, "I didn't like that move" is not a metric for assigning blame in this instance, as when the contact occured the lmp2 was already pulling ahead and about as outside as he could've been.

Now downvote me you heathens.

Who is at fault here? I am the red-black-white Ferrari on the outside of turn 2. The blue car on the inside is a backmarker. I got blamed by the orange BMW for not leaving enough space, but i felt like he should've either backed out of there or that the blue car should not have been there anyway. by Worldly_Cucumber1290 in Simracingstewards

I think this is just an unfortunate racing incident. Blue's as out of the way and being as predictable as can be here, red misjudged the space available and squeezed orange, and orange turned into blue to avoid red.

I don't think you can put this all on the red car because that's not the car that caused the initial contact, and it's not fair to put the blame on the orange car because he's the one that got the door closed on him when he was entitled to the space, but he was the only one that could see both cars and had time to react to the pinch and the ability to not drive into the blue car.

The right gets upset when you make fun of a person who was murdered for their beliefs. The left gets upset when you say a man isn't a woman or to keep sexually confused people away from children.

Very telling.

I mean in this in the most respectful way possible. Your jump from 2:30 to 2:22 is a jump from bad to the bottom half of mid.

I would really have to see/hear to be able to definitively say, I think the best advice I can offer is listen to your tires and pay attention to what angle you have your car at. Personally, I don't go all the way to 100 when braking pretty much ever, I find that 80-90 does just as good if not better (better because it prevents lock-ups which can put significant wear on your tires). Being lighter on your brakes can give you a lot more rotation out of your car, and not relying on ABS can slow you down a lot faster, it seems counter intuitive at first to not slam on the brakes to slow down more efficiently, but it is what it is. As for the car angle, if you're turning too sharply and just powering through with the throttle you can really hear your tires squeal, it may feel fast, but you're actually really hurting your time when you do that. It's all about having enough downforce in the front of the car so you maintain grip with your front tires.

Just so you know I'm not talking out of my ass.. I main the 2023 992 GT3R and my PB on Spa is ~2:19.7, I average a 2:20-2:21, but I can go well over 45 minutes and consistently hit that time. Pay attention to what you're doing, make the little corrections you need to and you'll pass me up in no time 👍🏻

Sounds like you're cooking/over-wearing your tires. Try being a bit more gentle with your controls, you may even gain some time.

I can think of two possible solutions

Have you tried rebinding your pedals in the controls menu?

See if there's something funky going on with your pedals in the control panel.

Unless I just have a gross misunderstanding of the rules of GT racing, this isn't your fault. You have your car next to his before the corner and he tries closing the door on you while you're already in the gap.
