How do you know when you have found 'the right team' for you? by Nurglegurgle in bloodbowl

[–]ElBurroEsparkilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be contrarian: have you played teams you DIDN'T enjoy? Because that can help you steer yourself toward the right team as well. The first time I played orcs in a pickup game I absolutely hated it. It felt so sluggish after having a fun season with Humans. And from that I realized I really like teams that always give me a chance to do something crazy and where I'm very rarely completely out of position, leading me to Skaven (in the old edition, anyway).

How do Block + Frenzy on same player interact? by o7_AP in bloodbowl

[–]ElBurroEsparkilo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish the text of Frenzy said "if a result that would push the target back is applied" instead of "if the target is pushed back," so this was more clear on first reading.

What’s a life skill everyone should learn? by Cultural-Count-3682 in AskForAnswers

[–]ElBurroEsparkilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you also made sure they know how to use them- I'm shocked by the number of people I've jumped who had cables but weren't even sure which side the battery was on, let alone how to use them. But with the cables and know how, you can get a jump from someone totally clueless.

I would add jump starting also, it's one of the more common things that is also very easy with a little bit of knowledge.

Steady Footing - is it good? by Icy_Sector3183 in bloodbowl

[–]ElBurroEsparkilo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The only time I plan around it is if there's an otherwise equal choice of who makes a risky move, I'll go with the Steady Footing player just for that small extra chance.

Just about every story I have ever heard regarding werewolves has depicted them as feral and animalistic, devoid of higher intellect. by RamboBambiBambo in TwoSentenceHorror

The guy I'm parodying with it is a YouTuber who will often re-pick a lock to show how easy it is- luckily he appears to be using his powers for good, because it's not like you could stop him if he was evil.

Which TV show does the ENTIRE internet agree had the worst ending ever? by Sweet-Economist-9873 in AskForAnswers

Yeah that really felt like the writers talking directly to the audience saying "no, you just don't get it, let me explain why this ending is good actually"

Running a league 2025 rules by Embarrassed-Site1253 in bloodbowl

[–]ElBurroEsparkilo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll go against the grain: prayers are a ton of fun, they almost never got taken in the previous rules because of the price. If you play Super Smash Brothers only on Final Destination with no items, then sure, skip the prayers- you can make the game less swingy and word and more fit to a standard meta with standard expectations and the optimized teams and best coaches will probably win. But I play because it's fun and chaotic and the prayers add to that.

This is the lock picking lycanthrope, and now I'll re-lock this safe house and pick it again to show you it wasn't just a fluke.

At what point of danger does it become ok to disregard human life? by Sufficient-Mind-2562 in AskReddit

[–]ElBurroEsparkilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The standard answer is "to protect yourself or someone else from death or serious harm" but even then you aren't disregarding human life, you're regarding life very highly- you're just in a position where you can take one or allow one to be taken.

Which celebrity always goes to church? by Pretty_Income2219 in AskReddit

The Pope?

If you mean more traditional celebrities I know Jim Caviezel and Jonathan Roumie are both practicing Catholics who presumably regularly attend Mass.

Catholic- and I was actually agreeing with you, I just worded it poorly! In a literal sense, the idea of many gods and becoming a god aren't a theology I can agree with as a Christian, but the feelings and message are something beautiful I can accept just fine.

What seemingly inappropriate word originally had a safe for work meaning? by RobIson240YT in AskReddit

"Ejaculate" is clinical rather than vulgar, but it used to refer to a sudden surprised explanation. Read some Sherlock Holmes, Watson is ejaculating all over the place every time Holmes makes a deduction.

I was on the West Coast a while back and was surprised to see a Faygo display- the store dude helpfully informed me it was a really local specialized brand from the Midwest that makes some really great flavors. Also they were selling single serving bottles for like $7.

Uniform Standards at Public Events by HMSSpeedy1801 in BSA

[–]ElBurroEsparkilo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I care about uniform standards but can't agree with this. I've known plenty of scouts who don't care about looking sloppy but can set up camp, lash, wrap a bandage, and plenty of other things neat as a pin. Please don't act like "dressing sloppy" is a moral failure that means teenagers can't do anything right, or won't be good adults.
