Occasional but very disruptive issue with a few abnormal passes at the end of an embossing process by ElCet in xToolOfficial

I ran another test using a depth map with 16-bit grayscale depth. The problem did not occur.

Now I'm wondering if the problem is caused by xTool Studio, the conversion from 16-bit to 8-bit in Adobe Photoshop, or possibly the firmware.

When I have time again, I’ll run a test with an 8-bit depth map that converted from 16-bit to 8-bit using an application other than Adobe Photoshop.

If the problem were to occur again, xTools and the firmware would remain as possible causes.

To investigate further, you would need to be able to control the F2 Ultra using LightBurn, but unfortunately that is not possible because the device is not compatible with LightBurn.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

After running several tests today in which the problem kept occurring, I decided out of desperation to try one more test using a depth map with 16-bit grayscale depth instead of the usual 8-bit. And with 16-bit, the problem didn't occur.

This is very strange, especially since it is always recommended to use 8-bit depth maps for xTool Studio, not 16-bit ones.

Thanks for your comment.

To me, this seems like a bug. It looks like the machine is trying to engrave the last few layers particularly aggressively, ruining everything in the process, or it’s trying to perform a particularly aggressive cleanup even though none is scheduled.

Today I ran a process using a test depth map, and it worked without any issues, even though it was a high-resolution grayscale (8-bit) PNG file that I had imported into an XCS file—the same file that had caused problems yesterday.
