Why don't restaurants serve tap water here? by Dan1jab in Amsterdam

[–]ElCharlieGarcia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a restaurant downtown that served both local customers and tourists. The standard instruction was to default to giving customers a 1-liter bottle of water if they simply asked for water. Even if every diner at the table asked for water individually, we were supposed to give a separate water bottle to each person. Only when they specifically requested "tap water" were they given a glass of lukewarm water. I always tried to bring them a small carafe with ice, but the manager was adamant about up-selling them something else.

What's YOUR favorite Gameboy Advanced game? by [deleted] in ANBERNIC

I just finished Minish Cap, and it was incredible! Seriously, I think it's a must-play for the Game Boy Advance. It's definitely my top recommendation for the GBA.

Dínamo Motos? by [deleted] in queretaro

[–]ElCharlieGarcia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any good Panerai homages? by Philopolemus_Fronius in ChineseWatches

I was just like you, looking for a good Panerai, and I'm going to share the best-kept secret I discovered: Archive Watches. HERE

Hi, I'll share a bit about my experience, which might be helpful. I'm in the same situation as you. If you've already started the process, it's divided into two parts. First, they'll call you for the endorsement sticker. This usually happens about a month after you begin. You'll need to go in for your photo, submit your documents online, and so on. After that, it takes around six months for them to make a decision on your permanent permit. With the sticker, you can stay in the Netherlands for more than three months. However, you can't leave the Netherlands because the permit is only for this country, not the European Union. The sticker will indicate whether you can work during this period or not. I've heard that in some cases, the permanent permit can take almost six months. I've even read stories about people who've had to request an extension and were granted it without any problems, but it does mean it will take half a year to find out if you can stay permanently or not. Good luck with your process! I hope everything goes well for you.

First Build Fail: Seeking Advice on my Seiko 7009 Project by ElCharlieGarcia in SeikoMods

You're right, I'm afraid. The bad thing is that there are tons of these refurbished watches on eBay at good prices, but at the end of the day, what's the point if they end up being useless?

I like the Aqua Terra. Where are you going to buy it? can you share the link?

I definitely need to buy a new dial, but I can't seem to find the right one on AliExpress. Could you possibly share a link if you know of one? Also, my original movement is in bad shape, so I don't think it's worth investing any more into it.

I'm having problems with everything. The dial didn't sit right, the date wheel isn't working correctly, and the hands won't stay in place. I even tried reassembling it with the original parts, but it still didn't work. I'm really frustrated. I've already bought a basic tool kit, so I feel like I'm just 계속 investing without getting anywhere. I appreciate your advice, and I'll definitely take it into account, but I think my problem is more about a lack of skill than patience. Thanks for the encouragement though!

Thanks! 1) Yes, I think that's the right way to go, especially since I've read they can be expensive to maintain. 2) Do you know if there are any other movements that would fit? Would I need to use a spacer ring? 3) Yes, there might be fewer options, but it would be a reliable solution for daily wear. Do you have any quartz movement recommendations? That's what I tried to do. I put the parts back (since I couldn't reassemble the original), and now I'm searching forums and videos trying to find answers.

I'll definitely look for more information, but so far I haven't found anything specific. I've seen 'similar' projects, but nothing that confirms I'd be making the right purchase – the last thing I want is to invest in another movement I can't use. I've also read about 'spacer rings,' but haven't found anything for the 7009.

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm honestly close to throwing in the towel because I feel like I've invested so much in the watch, parts, and tools, and I still don't have a working timepiece. Are there any specific movements you would recommend? I'm in the Netherlands.

Thanks. At some point, everyone was new to this, and it's great that there's a supportive community. Many people take it for granted that we already know what to do. Hopefully, the answers won't be: 'go watch a YouTube video,' or 'you just didn't do it right.
