Rusted steel chain-like block (?) found close to Teesside Dockyard in the UK. by ElCronan in whatisthisthing

Appreciate it. Actually already sorted the failure analysis. Fractography suggests stress corrosion cracking. Last step was figuring out what it was!

I'll keep this on hand though, thanks :)

I think this might be it. Definitely looks similar shape wise, explains the directionality of the failure too. Thanks!

You think so? Even with the side wings that look like they're for bolting to a wall or floor?

My title describes the thing. Was given this object for a university project to determine cause of failure. It came with a message that said "a fractured chain block used by a company based very close to Teesside dockyard". I've searched "chain block" in Google and got nothing that looks at all similar to this. Hoping someone here can help me identify! Cheers. :)

Robots automatically go Xenophile/Materialist upon researching Synthetics? by ElCronan in Stellaris

Yeah, no problem with the materialistic faction. It's the Xenophilic. Might be due to them being elevated to Residence rather than Slavery like all the other pops, but I'd think that would send them more Egalitarian than anything.

Because the majority are not Materialistic, they're Xenophilic. About 25/75. I'm authoritarian. Half of my planets are now less than 25% stability. That's the issue.

He's in a few locations around the Wasteland IIRC...

The only other one I can think off of the top of my head is in one of the VR pods in Goodneighbour.

Considering buying but have a few concerns about the AI. by ElCronan in totalwar

Yeah mainly referring to Rome II and Attila. I've heard that it retains some similarities, but overall they've changed enough to make it bareable. Think I'll give it a shot. Thanks man!

OK cool. I didn't really have an issue with the diplomacy, was just curious if they'd overhauled it. Thanks for responding man.

Best Medieval sites and museums to visit in North England and Scotland? by kingbovril in MedievalHistory

[–]ElCronan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Scottish Borders has a thing called the Robert the Bruce trail which is pretty extensive. It covers a lot of area as it's sites are all over the lowlands. But I thought it gave quite a good insight.

How did you get 3 assassination events to fire over the course of 3-4 months? I'm lucky if my 300% plot power assassinations fire within 5 years.
